THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 928

"Alright," Gordon nodded slightly. "I'll take them to her tomorrow."

Beatrice's eyes widened. Had she heard him correctly?

Alaina pressed on. "And when you're dating Catie, don't be a cheapskate. Make sure you give her a sense of security. Don't forget birthdays and anniversaries, prepare surprises, buy her flowers, bags, and jewelry. And throw in a few bank transfers now and then."

"I know, Sis."

Beatrice was dumbfounded. He was so obedient! He didn't argue or push back at all, just nodded meekly. Was this really her son? If she hadn't seen it with her own eyes, she would never have believed it.

Gordon then said, "Anything else, Sis? I have a video conference later."

"That's all. You can go back to work," Alaina said with a wave of her hand.

Gordon nodded and headed back upstairs.

As Gordon's figure disappeared from view, Alaina turned to Beatrice, a triumphant smile on her face. "See, Mom? That's the power of love. When it comes to Catie, nothing is an issue for our sweet boy."

Beatrice laughed, delighted. "It's true what they say, there really is a lid for every pot!" Seeing such a dramatic change in Gordon filled her with genuine happiness. She had started to think she'd never get to hold a grandchild in her lifetime. Now, it seemed not only possible, but very likely.

---

The next morning, Gordon had arranged to take Caitlin to a trendy new restaurant for lunch, planning to give her the gifts from Beatrice and Alaina then. They had agreed to meet at 11:30. Gordon arrived at 11:10.

He had just pulled into the parking lot when he received a text from Caitlin. She had a last-minute emergency at work and would be a little late.

Gordon typed a reply as he walked toward the restaurant: [Okay, no rush. I'll wait for you.]

"Master Ninth!"

Just as he sent the message, a familiar voice called out. Gordon glanced over and saw Will striding toward him.

"What are you doing here?" Gordon asked.

Will grinned. "I'm here to make my grand confession!" He had already coordinated with Caitlin's assistant and knew she would be dining here for lunch. The plan was to have someone lure her upstairs with a plausible excuse.

"Confession?"

Will nodded enthusiastically. "Yes! Master Ninth, you said my last setup was a bit lacking, remember? So today, I booked the entire rooftop garden upstairs, redecorated everything, and I'm planning to confess my love to her at lunch." He added proudly, "And, just as you suggested, I had ten thousand and one roses delivered today!" Will had learned a great deal about romantic gestures from Gordon, like how 10,001 roses symbolized that she was 'one in ten thousand.'

Seeing Will's distress, Gordon clapped him on the shoulder comfortingly. "She just has a boyfriend; she's not married. You still have the right to compete for her affection, and she has the right to choose. You may have a bit of a reputation as a playboy, but you're still Valerian nobility. If you can show her you've truly changed your ways, you might just win her over."

"Really? You think I can?" Will seemed to find a sliver of hope.

Gordon nodded. "Persistence is key." He glanced at his watch. "I should go down and wait for my girlfriend. Good luck with your confession."

"Thanks, Master Ninth! I won't give up!" Will said with a renewed smile. "Let me walk you down."

Gordon didn't refuse. As they reached the ground floor, Will spotted a familiar figure approaching from across the restaurant. She was wearing a sleeveless white top and black cargo pants, her hair tied up in a bun, looking effortlessly cool and chic.

He pointed excitedly. "Master Ninth, look! That's her! That's the woman I'm going to confess to!"

"Where?" Gordon asked.

Will pointed at Caitlin. "The one in the black cargo pants, the one who's incredibly beautiful and cool."

Gordon looked up and saw Caitlin walking toward them. It was summer, and nearly every other woman in the restaurant was wearing a dress or shorts. She was the only one in cargo pants.

Gordon's expression changed instantly. He turned his head slowly to face Will, his phoenix eyes narrowing into dangerous slits. "Who did you say you were confessing to?!!"
