Gordon's voice was light and casual, but it landed in the room like a bombshell.
"For real?" Alaina's eyes widened. "Caitlin really did that? I saw online that putting a lipstick mark on a boyfriend's white shirt is a way of declaring your claim, telling other single girls that he's taken."
She had assumed that someone with Caitlin's cool, aloof personality would never bother with something like that. Alaina was genuinely surprised to learn Caitlin had such an adorable side to her. She couldn't even picture it.
"Authentic and original," Gordon said with a slight nod, maintaining his serious demeanor. "Oh, so that's what it means. Declaring a claim."
Beatrice instantly lost all interest in Justice's distant relatives. She rushed over to Gordon and playfully slapped his arm. "Good boy! You've really outdone yourself! You've made your mother so proud!"
If things were progressing at this pace, the day Caitlin became her daughter-in-law couldn't be far off. The more Beatrice thought about it, the more excited she became. "If you two get married, I'll give you your very own page in the family history book!"
Alaina rolled her eyes. "Mom, you're joking, right?"
"I'm not joking at all!" Beatrice said with a completely serious expression. "Now it all depends on whether this brat has what it takes."
"I'll do my best not to disappoint you," Gordon said, picking up his jacket. "Mom, I'm going upstairs. I have some work to finish. Just call me when dinner's ready."
"Go on," Beatrice nodded.
As Alaina watched Gordon's retreating back, she called out, "By the way, Sweetie..."
Hearing the long-forgotten childhood nickname, Gordon paused and pressed his temples. He turned back. "Sis, I'm a grown man now!"
"Alright, alright, I won't call you Sweetie! Gordon, do you know what Skyler has been busy with lately? Ever since he got back from that safari trip, he hasn't been home! When I ask, he just says he's busy. I don't even know if he's coming back tonight."
Skyler had just managed to win over the girl of his dreams. Since the relationship was still new, he planned to wait until things were more stable before bringing her home to surprise his parents and Beatrice. For now, he hadn't told anyone and had specifically asked Gordon to keep it a secret.
Since he had made a promise, Gordon naturally intended to keep his lips sealed. "I'm not sure about the details. He's probably busy with a project at a construction site."
"Oh, is that so?" Alaina nodded and didn't press any further.
Gordon went up to his study and started working. He continued until about seven o'clock.

So happy for Carey, the reunion with her family is touching. Can we read more of Caitlin and Gordon? Readers are forgetting that Caitlin has a boyfriend by the way. Is it normal for their relationship to be erased in the storyline?...
Update please......
But where is Gordon?...
Great story, great author!...
