Kingsley stepped into his home and wasted no time.
He ordered Peter to investigate—with his current channels, he couldn't dig up even a shred of key information about Lucy.
Seeing the message, Peter immediately fired back a teasing reply: [Kingsley, if even you can't find info on someone and have to ask me, does that mean I'm better than you?]
Kingsley glanced at the childish provocation and didn't even bother replying. He lit a cigar. As the smoke drifted past his brow, he dialed Thurston.
The moment the call connected, he got straight to the point. "I have a question. Do you know what Lucy has been doing in Switzerland for the past two years?"
Thurston's frivolous laugh came through the receiver. "Kingsley, do you want the honest truth?"
"Are you speaking nonsense?" Kingsley's tone was as cold as ice.
"The truth is, I don't know." Thurston sighed with a laugh. "You know that Jane won't tell me anything about Lucy, precisely because she's afraid I'll leak it to you."
He shifted gears, putting on a pitiful act. "Buddy, you haven't seen how repressed my life has been these past two years."
Kingsley found it ridiculous—Thurston had visited Switzerland just as often as Jane had.
"Thurston," Kingsley's voice deepened, "if I find out you're hiding things from me, just wait."
