Chapter 317 The Unexpected Choice
But the audience and fans were still curious about her. They wanted to know more about who she really was.
Especially fans of Amelia and Selena-they all hoped Sabrina was a good person.
They wanted their idols to have friends just as smart, capable, and beautiful.
Next, the production team handed out the tasks. They assigned everyone their lodging and covered one meal for the day.
After that, if they wanted more food, they’d have to earn it on their own.
“You can get food or upgrade your lodging by helping with planting or by developing potions to cultivate medicinal herbs,” the host explained.
“Of course, if that’s not your thing, you can earn rewards through talent shows or other activities-as long as someone’s willing to pay you for it, it counts.”
As soon as the rules were explained, Gianna and Vincent both felt a flash of irritation.
The setup clearly favored people with pharmaceutical skills-completely biased.
But Gianna wasn’t worried. She still had her secret line to Regina, after all.
Not only could she show off her professional side, she could also perform-dancing, playing instruments, whatever it took.
She was feeling pretty smug about it.
With no one objecting, they headed straight to their assigned lodgings.
When they saw the place, they were all stunned. Aside from a bed and a wardrobe, there was nothing.
Maxwell and Vincent were especially shocked. They’d grown up in luxury and had never stayed anywhere this plain.
Even their camping trips were fully equipped and comfortable.
“We’re staying here? On this bed?” Vincent blurted.
“Can’t you swap us to a better room or bed?” Maxwell added quickly.
“No,” the host said with a polite smile. “Unless you perform well and earn an upgrade for your

room and meals.”
If everyone got the best accommodations from the start, what would be the point of competing?
Besides, real researchers-the people this show celebrated-made huge contributions while living simply.
No pain, no gain.
“If you want luxury and to live like princes, you’re free to quit now.”
Jeremy’s voice cut through the air, sharp as ever.
He shut them both up instantly. They stood there with open mouths, too embarrassed to
answer.
What a jerk.
“Mr. Curran, my brother and Vincent didn’t mean it like that,” Gianna jumped in, trying to play nice again. “They’ve never done a variety show before, so they don’t know the rules. Please don’t blame them.”
“Shut up. Your voice is already annoying.”
Jeremy wasn’t like her brothers. He didn’t spoil her; he clearly couldn’t stand her.
He even stepped a few paces away on purpose.
Seeing that, Gianna fumed inside but wore her best hurt, fragile expression.
She turned to Miguel. “Don’t mind him. I can stay anywhere. I just need a bit to adjust.”
Miguel knew Jeremy had a sharp tongue. Arguing with him would only make them look worse.
“Let’s just put our stuff away,” he said, ending it there.
Amelia watched the little scene unfold, secretly giving Jeremy a thumbs-up in her mind before heading inside with Selena.
Jeremy caught her glance, and for a moment, his usually cold, unreadable face softened with
warmth.
The fans went wild again.
[Nice one! Some people really need to be told off. This isn’t your mansion!]

[I totally caught that look between Amelia and Mr. Curran. Why did that feel so sweet?]
Amelia and Selena ended up sharing a room, while Jeremy got his own.
The arrangement was perfectly natural between them.
Sabrina, who had barely spoken, walked calmly to her assigned room. A flicker of something unreadable flashed in her eyes before disappearing.
Her calm, understated demeanor drew plenty of attention.
Meanwhile, Gianna immediately claimed a room for herself and left the other for Miguel and
Vincent.
Miguel wasn’t happy about it.
He’d always slept alone, and now he had to share a cramped little space. It felt all wrong.
But since they were filming, he couldn’t show his displeasure.
He wanted his own room too.
Still, he couldn’t very well make Gianna share with Vincent.
They might be engaged, but doing that on-camera? The fans would roast him alive-and his parents and brothers would finish the job.
Vincent hated the simple lodgings too, but at least he wasn’t stuck with Gianna. That, at least, was a small relief.
