The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 83

Joseph shook his head. “Not yet.”

After all, the “truth” he had told Vivica was a complete lie. And there was no need to involve more people in a lie.

But Vivica had a different opinion.

“Mr. Baird, if you’re worried about my feelings, please don’t be. I’m getting a divorce anyway, so the child will be mine alone from now on. I can see you all genuinely love Chaim. Your brother passed away, and your parents are in so much pain. If they knew this was your brother’s child, it would bring them immense comfort and lessen their regret.”

Vivica was a kind-hearted person. She believed in repaying even the smallest kindness with great generosity. Joseph had helped her repeatedly, and she was incredibly grateful. Seeing how benevolent Sheridan and Melanie were, and thinking of their profound grief over losing a child, she felt an urge to do something for them.

But Joseph still shook his head. “Not yet.”

Vivica frowned, a little confused.

Unable to tell her the real reason, Joseph came up with an excuse. “I’m worried that if they find out Chaim is their biological grandson, they’ll insist on bringing him into the Baird family. You’re in the middle of a messy divorce right now; we shouldn’t complicate matters.”

His reasoning was perfectly logical, and Vivica’s eyes widened in understanding. “You’re right. You’re much more thoughtful than I am. If Fletcher caught wind of this, it would only bring more trouble to your family.”

Remembering Fletcher’s baseless accusations and slander, Vivica felt a wave of relief that Joseph was so thorough. Otherwise, she might have caused even more problems for them.

Chaim was a wonderful companion for the elderly couple, laughing and talking with them. It was clear to see that Melanie’s spirits had lifted considerably.

Unfortunately, Vivica was pressed for time and needed to take the boy and leave, though she didn’t know how to bring it up.

Joseph noticed her quiet anxiety. Without even asking, he stood up and walked over to his parents. “Mom, Dad, it’s almost two. Chaim needs to go back for his nap, and Ms. Lynn has to get to work.”
