The Lycan King's Forbidden Craving novel Chapter 253

253: Silent prayers

Rheal.Lylah raised a brow.

Fine. I’m rooting for you auntie,he said and shut the window.

Lylah smiled dropped as she faced the guard.

Why are rogues coming here? I thought Elder Varyn said this small mountain was offlimits and safe.

II don’t know, My Lady. We were doing the usual rounds, then his one just dropped from the trees like a damn shadow. He spat, eyes scanning the treeline afar. Could be a scout.

Lylah’s eyes narrowed. A scout means more are coming.

Another guard appeared, breathless. My Lady, we just found tracks leading in from the southern ridge. Fresh. Might be a group maybe six or seven, but it’s hard to tell. Could be more.

Lylah cursed under her breath and quickly glanced back toward the chamber Rheal and Cal were resting in

Double the perimeter. Set two archers on each wall and make sure the east watch gets the update. I’ll handle it here.

The guards nodded and scattered to obey.

Lylah suddenly caught a scent and muttered, You’ve got to be shitting me.

As she turned toward the direction, five rogues emerged from the shadows

Really? Right after she had sent the guards away?

These rogues passed the damn long cut, the river and forest to get here?

A female, huh?the one in front smirked. Nice. We’ve got a full moon dinner.

Uhmdoesn’t she look familiar?the one beside him whispered, voice wary.

Like who?

Likeuhm. The gladiator. You knowthe devil’s little sister.

They all glanced back at Lylah, who was scratching her head as if they had just disturbed her sweet night’s sleep.

The leader scoffed. If I recall correctly, the devil’s little sister has long twin braids of hair. Besides, didn’t you hear? She’s dead.

Lylah threw her head back with a groaned. Look. Can you all motherfucker just leave, I really, reeeeaaally don’t want bloods on my hands tonight. In fact never. It makes me go berserk, okay?her voice dropped low. So Just do me a favour and fucking leave. I don’t want dead bodies around here.

The rogues glanced at each other, giving themselves signal. With a nod three of them transformed into the full shift, their eyes glowing wildly.

Lylah exhaled with an eye roll.

Fuck.

Nyx,she muttered.

*You got it*

She half shift, blue eyes glowing, fangs bared and dagger swinging swiftly in her palms.

The three wolves launched at her.

Lylah didn’t move at first.

The ground trembled under the wolvesweight as they charged, their snarls splitting the night air like thunder.

Then she vanished. Like a blur, she moved with precision. Her dager sliced the first wolf’s belly, and its internal organs spilled

out.

Before the others could react, she flipped over the second, sinking her dagger straight into its skull.

The third writhed, distracted. She went for its neck, tearing it apart like a piece of meat. Within seven seconds, all three were down.

The leader blinked.

The wolf beside him faltered. Sshe’s

The devil’s little sister, the rogues whispered, stepping back slowly.

Lylah turned her head, blood trickling down the curve of her jaw. Her glowing blue eyes fixated on them, almost bored.

You still want your full moon dinner?she asked.

Before they could respond, fire poured behind them, ending the lives of the rogues lurking in the shadows. The two were startled by a massive creature in the air.

Before they could flee, fire suddenly engulfed them as Arianna appeared. She threw them aside, letting them burn, and approached Lylah in quick steps.

Little bear,she whispered, hugging her.

Aria,Lylah replied softly.

You alright?

Lylah nodded in response.

Mother!Rheal’s voice came from behind.

Lylah’s eyes widened. She quickly glanced at the dead bodies, only to see the dragon had already done the justice of eating them. Relief washed over her. She didn’t want her nephew seeing corpses

She pulled out a fabric, cleaned the blood on her face and hands, and discarded it.

Rheal hugged the mother he had missed so much. Arianna showered his face with kisses, her silver eyes tearing up.

I missed you so much.

Me too,Rheal squealed, hugging her again. He pulled away and asked excitedly, Where’s Father?

Back in the palace. He can’t wait to see you once this is over,Arianna said, caressing his cheek: Wait a little longer, Rheal. Mummy has her mission to complete.

Rheal nodded. Be careful out there, Mom.

Arianna kissed his forehead. Go inside and sleep, okay? You’ll meet Father very soon. I promise.

Rheal went in obediently, paused at the door, and waved at his mother before going inside.

I’ve cleared the coast. There are no more rogues near this pack,Arianna told Lylah, concerned.
