The Marriage That Never Existed novel Chapter 1

Chapter 1

“Can I have a vaginal dilation surgery?”

“My husband is… a little too much for me to handle.”

I looked at the young woman before me, surprised.

Many women came to me for operations, but most wanted tightening procedures or hymen repair. Very few ever asked for dilation surgery.

After asking a few questions, I gave her a check-up. She was indeed somewhat narrow, though not to the point of surgery.

I tried to dissuade her, but she insisted.

“My husband is rather... generous in size, and he is always worried he might hurt me. Every time he has to hold himself back.”

“I cannot bear to see him suffer like that, doctor. Please schedule the surgery as soon as possible.”

For a fleeting moment, I thought of Adrian Holt. He was astonishing in that regard—so much so that he had hurt me more than once.

Heat crept up my face. Forcing the thought aside, I arranged the operation.

Just then, the door opened, and a man strode in. I was about to speak when the girl threw herself into his arms.

“Honey!”

I watched them holding each other, a chill spreading slowly through me.

Her husband, the man she was talking about, was the same man who had been my husband for two years.

Adrian looked at Lila Summers, his brows drawn together.

“If my secretary hadn’t seen you at the hospital, were you planning to go through with this behind my back?”

“I told you. I don’t care about myself. I just don’t want you to hurt yourself because of me.”

Lila’s voice trembled with grievance.

“But watching you hold back every time breaks my heart.”

Adrian caressed her face, his tone impossibly soft.

“Sweetheart, having you by my side is all I need. Nothing else matters. I could live without making love to you.”

He easily pinned my wrists. “You don’t want me?”

I stared at him in disbelief, my voice shaking. “Adrian, don’t you have anything to say to me?”He looked at me, perfectly calm, as if nothing had happened. “She will not affect you. We can go on as before.”

I could hardly believe what I was hearing. “What did you just say?”

“She cannot meet my needs physically, and her body isn’t fit for pregnancy. Just pretend you don’t know. Nothing has to change between us.”

He took out his phone. Moments later, I received a message. A transfer of five million dollars.

“Quit your job,” he said.

My lips parted, but no sound came out. Then his phone rang.

Adrian stood, his tone turning gentle in an instant. “Alright, I’ll be right there.”

He ended the call and strode out.

I sat frozen, my heart turning colder by the moment. I knew who was on the other end of that call. Lila.Tears kept falling. I grabbed my phone and made a single call.

“Please prepare a divorce agreement for me.”
