The Mind-Reading Mate Why Is the Lycan King So Obsessed With Me novel Chapter 272

Chapter 272: My Husband Knows Too Much

"Why are you stopping me from seeing my wife?!" Edmund’s voice roared from behind the door. "Move, or I swear I’ll throw you out of the palace myself!"

Primrose hadn’t expected Edmund to return to the palace so soon. She thought he’d be back in the late afternoon or maybe even at night, at least after making sure there were no more threats around the palace.

However, her thoughts immediately scattered when she saw the sky outside the window had already turned red.

How was that possible?

Hadn’t she only been in that memory for a little while? Raven had told her that time moved faster in memories compared to the real world.

Sensing Primrose’s confusion, Raven immediately said, "Time in a memory does feel faster, Your Majesty, but that doesn’t mean it only lasted a few minutes in the real world."

In truth, Primrose had been gone long enough for the afternoon to fade into early evening. It made sense. But her thoughts were no longer on time.

She wanted to ask more about it, but her mind couldn’t focus on anything else except the image of her husband’s face, kneeling at her grave with a look of devastation carved into his face.

The sorrow still clung to her chest like a weight she couldn’t shake, squeezing tighter and tighter until it was hard to breathe.

"Let me in!" she heard Edmund’s voice yelling from just outside her room.

Even though Callen had tried to stop him from entering, preventing the Lycan King from doing anything was simply impossible.

Edmund forcibly opened the door and shoved Callen aside. Normally, he would have respected Primrose’s wish to be left alone for a while, but today was different.

He had just witnessed his wife poison someone without telling him anything beforehand.

It was understandable that he felt angry, but also deeply worried and afraid that she might have been affected by the incident as well.

"You may leave, Lady Raven," Primrose said the moment she locked eyes with Edmund. "Thank you for today."

Raven didn’t say a word. She simply gave a deep bow before walking out of the room and slowly closing the door behind her, leaving Primrose and Edmund alone.

"Primrose." Edmund’s voice was firmer than usual, laced with emotion he hadn’t decided how to express yet, whether it was anger, fear, or concern.

His hair was tousled, his clothes a little out of place. He must have run straight back to the palace after eliminating the rogue werewolves that had been roaming the palace territory.

He took a deep breath and said, "You told me you only wanted to have a casual conversation with Dr. Silas, but—"

"Husband ..." Primrose, no longer able to contain her emotions, suddenly burst into tears, cutting off whatever Edmund had been about to say. "I’m sorry."

Edmund froze.

He didn’t know the real reason she was crying, so he froze in place, his mind running wild as he tried to figure out what he had done to upset her this much.

[Was ... was I too harsh with her?] he scolded himself inwardly. [Damn it! I should’ve known better than to raise my voice or try to get angry with her!]

Primrose didn’t even have the strength to explain why she was crying so hard. She truly had no energy left to do anything but cry until her eyes burned from the pain.

She reached out for him, silently pleading for him to hug her right here, right now.

Without another thought, Edmund quickly crossed the room and pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly.

"W-what’s wrong?" he whispered, dropping to his knees so he could hug her more comfortably.

"Was I too harsh? I—I’m sorry ... I truly didn’t mean to scold you, I just—"

"It’s not like that," Primrose cut him off. She wrapped her arms around his neck, leaning into him so much she nearly fell from her wheelchair. "I’ll explain everything later, but ... can we just hug for a while?" she whispered, her voice trembling. "I really need it."

After watching Edmund cry and being unable to hold her, Primrose truly wanted to bury herself in his embrace.

She wanted to make sure her husband knew she was there, and that she was still alive. That she hadn’t gone anywhere. That she could still hold him, cry in his arms, and feel his warmth.

On the other hand, Edmund didn’t understand why his wife was acting that way. Still, he tightened his arms around her, holding her as if she were the most precious thing in the world.

"It’s alright," Edmund whispered beside her ear, gently stroking her hair and softly patting her back. "You’re safe with me."

After a while, Edmund finally decided to carry Primrose to the bed because he was worried her body would grow sore if she kept leaning forward like that for too long.

He gently lifted her into his arms, carefully making sure he didn’t touch her legs carelessly.
