Edmund couldn’t help but feel guilty. He had been thinking way too many dirty thoughts about his wife without realizing she could hear everything loud and clear.
However, the guilt gradually faded when Primrose found out that his wolf had filtered out most of the dirty words Edmund had in his mind.
Still, weren’t those filtered dirty thoughts already perverted enough? What kind of words had his wolf hidden from her?
Primrose was curious, but also felt it might be better if she never found out.
She had a feeling that if she found out, she’d either get super embarrassed or worse, get turned on instantly.
"Are you really sure you can still sleep in the same bed with me?" Edmund helped Primrose sit down on the bed and made sure there was nothing near her feet. "I ... I’m still not sure I can stop thinking."
[Actually, I think even more at night.] Edmund suddenly froze as he realized something. [Wife, I’m sorry, it feels like I’m ignoring you if I talk to myself, but I—]
"That’s alright," Primrose said. "Edmund, you can think like usual. I won’t invade your thoughts unless I need to, and to answer your question—yes, I don’t mind sleeping next to you."
Besides, once Leofric came back, maybe he could help her learn to control this mind-reading thing, so she didn’t have to get headache all the time.
Primrose did think that too many people already knew about her ability, but she was also sure that sooner or later, Leofric would find out about it anyway.
As for Salem and Raven ... well, Primrose believed they were trustworthy enough not to suddenly betray her in the future.
And even if that happened, at least she had one more secret ability, something only Edmund and Leofric knew about.
"I’m sorry. I don’t mean to blame you for something you can’t control." Edmund sat beside her with a heavy sigh. "I’m just not used to letting someone else hear my thoughts."
[My wolf can hear me too, but that’s different.]
His wolf had been in his head since the day he was born, so of course Edmund had grown used to it.
"I understand that," Primrose nodded. "Honestly, I was pretty freaked out too when I found out you’d planted so many spying devices in my room."
Edmund looked away, clearly guilty. "I’m sorry about that."
Primrose sighed but then gave him a playful smile. "Well, since we’re both acting like stalkers, how about we just stop hiding it? You already know I can read your mind, so why don’t you tell me everything you turned into a spy?"
She held out her hand. "Are we making a deal?"
Edmund hesitated for a second but eventually took her hand and shook it. "Alright," he said. "I’ll tell you."
Since Primrose had just moved rooms, he hadn’t placed too many devices yet.
But his definition of "not too many" turned out to be ... ten, and all ten were set up to catch every single corner of her bedroom.
"How can you see me through a vase?!" Primrose pointed at the flower vase beside her bed. "It doesn’t even have eyes like a doll!"
Edmund replied calmly, "I don’t need something with eyes to see you." He continued, "As long as the surface of the object can reflect an image, I can see through it, like a mirror, this porcelain vase, or a doll’s eyes."
Primrose picked up the vase from the table and inspected the porcelain surface, which was so clean that her face reflected clearly in it.
"Did you also put something like this in my bathroom?" Primrose asked.
Edmund immediately turned his face away, and the tips of his ears turned red. "I ... I did not."
Primrose narrowed her eyes and listened to his thoughts.
[Wife, I swear, I would never go that far!]
"I believe you," she said gently.
Edmund turned back to her, surprised. "Really?"
Primrose nodded, smiling warmly. "I know my husband. He might be a little shameless ... but he’s not that shameless."
Truthfully, she was sure that Edmund hadn’t placed anything to spy on her in the bathroom because if he had, he would’ve already known about her conversation with Hazelle.
Good thing her husband wasn’t that creepy. At least he still had some sense of shame to not spy on his wife in the bathroom.
"Wife, I—I’ll throw all of these things away!" Edmund said, quickly taking the vase from her hands like it was cursed. "I swear, I won’t put any more spying devices near you again!"
