Sloane nodded through tears. “I just want… to see her.”

When the car stopped again at the gates of the Oliver estate, Kaizen could hardly believe his eyes. He rushed forward in a few long strides. “Dr. Rivers? Why are you back?”
“We’ve decided to go with you to Ravoth,” Sloane said steadily. “But I don’t have enough medicine on hand; I’ll need three days to prepare.”
Kaizen’s face lit up. “That’s incredible! Whatever you need–just say the word!”
Sloane pulled out a pen and paper, quickly jotting down a list. “These herbs–make sure they’re of the highest quality, and get plenty.”
Kaizen scanned the list, then turned to his butler. “Get everything on this list immediately! And bring out the century–old white orchid from the vault!”
Over the next three days, the west wing of the Oliver mansion became a makeshift apothecary. Sloane worked tirelessly, refining pills day and night, while Lucas stayed beside her, grinding and sorting the ingredients.
Rare herbs arrived in steady batches, and Kaizen even arranged for professional pharmaceutical equipment to be delivered.
“This one’s called Oasis Bead,” Sloane explained as she filled a porcelain bottle with bright green pills. “It’ll help protect against desert toxins. And this–Mindveil Tonic–you’ll need it if you encounter hallucinations…”
By the third evening, Sloane finally finished the last batch. Exhausted, she leaned against Lucas’s shoulder, gazing at the neatly lined rows of medicine bottles on the table. “I hope these will make a difference…”
Lucas pressed a gentle kiss to the top of her head. “They will.”
Meanwhile, Kaizen had everything else ready: the most advanced desert gear, Bedouin guides, military–issued satellite communication units…
“We leave at dawn,” he said, surveying the assembled team, his eyes burning with determination. “This time, I’ll bring Beth home.”
Shawn approached, carrying a cup of tea. “Don’t worry, Dad. We’re so well–prepared–Aunt Beth and Uncle Miles will be safe.”

Kaizen took the tea from him but snorted coldly. “I’m going to save your aunt. As for that man -I couldn’t care less whether he lives or dies.”
Shawn sighed softly. After all these years, his father was still angry at his uncle.
“Dad, drink your tea,” Shawn reminded him.
Not long after Kaizen finished it, a wave of dizziness washed over him. His vision blurred, and he slumped onto the couch.
Shawn looked at his unconscious father and murmured, “I’m sorry, Dad. The Oliver family needs you here to hold things together.”
He straightened, his voice firm. “Don’t worry–I’ll bring Aunt Beth and Uncle Miles back safely.”
At dawn, Kaizen jolted awake to bright daylight streaming through the window. His head throbbed violently. “What happened?”
The butler hurried in. “Sir, you’re awake? Mr. Shawn said to let you rest a while longer.”
Kaizen’s expression darkened. “Where’s Shawn?”
“He…” The butler hesitated. “He took the team and left. Said he was… going to Ravoth in your place.”
Kaizen threw off the blanket and staggered to the window. The private jet was already gone from the distant airstrip. He clenched his fists and slammed them against the window ledge. “That foolish boy!”
The butler handed him a sealed envelope. “Mr. Shawn left this for you.”
Kaizen tore it open. The letter contained only a few short lines:
“Dad, you’ve always said a man of the Oliver family must take responsibility. Aunt Beth treated me like her own child. This time, let me be the one to protect our family. Don’t worry—I’ll bring Aunt Beth and Uncle Tony back safely. -Shawn”
