The Secret Heirs of the Lycan King (by Misha K) novel Chapter 42

**When Midnight Winds Carry Secrets Toward Worlds Yet Unknown**

**Chapter 42**

In the dim, flickering light of my room, I felt the oppressive weight of Joseph Diaz’s demands pressing down on me like a heavy fog. His voice echoed in my mind, a potent mix of authority and desperation that had reverberated through the phone just a week prior. “You need to get Tasha to Scott. Now!” he had barked, as if I were merely a pawn in his game, a tool to be wielded at his convenience. A deep, simmering loathing for him twisted in my gut, a visceral hatred that threatened to consume me. Yet, beneath that animosity lay a strange kinship born of desperation—he, a father frantically trying to secure a future for his daughter, and I, tangled in my own chaos, struggling to maintain control.

Tasha had reached out to him, revealing the turmoil in her life, and now here I was, ensnared in this web of complications. Diaz was frantic; the shadows of loan sharks loomed over him, darkening his every thought. The urgency in his voice had been palpable, a reflection of his frantic need to ensure Tasha’s safety.

“What the hell are you doing, just sitting there on your pretty ass?” Diaz’s voice had sliced through the silence, sharp and accusatory, a blade of frustration aimed directly at me.

“Watch your tone!” I had retorted, my voice dripping with venom. “If it weren’t for me, you’d have been devoured by those loan sharks long ago. Tasha’s name alongside Scott’s has shifted the balance in our favor!”

“Then do something about that bitch, Bella!” he had spat, venom dripping from his words, igniting a fire within me.

Bella Williams. The thorn in my side, the one who was becoming increasingly troublesome. “I will,” I had promised, disconnecting the call before he could unleash more of his fury. Scott was not just wealthy; he was the linchpin of our pack, the King revered by all werewolves. They would pledge their loyalty to him without hesitation, and breaking that bond would not be a simple task. But I was determined to wield every ounce of power I possessed to bring him to his knees.

Moments later, Tasha burst into my space, her frustration radiating from her like heat from a raging fire. “That bitch, Bella!” she seethed, her breaths coming in rapid, angry bursts. “She’s everywhere! Scott… he’s only got eyes for her. Because of her, I’m confined to just two rooms in his villa! All because I dared to claim I was his fiancée!”

“What in the world were you thinking?” I exclaimed, incredulity washing over me like a tidal wave. “Why would you say that? You’re far above her! Why lower yourself to confront that weak human?”

Her fists were clenched tightly, a tempest brewing within her. “I want to kill her! Scott is completely enchanted by her, and I can’t fathom what he sees in her! Because of her, he hardly visits me anymore. What am I supposed to do?” She began to pace my room like a caged animal, her frustration palpable. “Scott looks at her as if she owns the very air he breathes! And that human had the audacity to talk back to me!”

I inhaled deeply, trying to steady my racing thoughts. “I’ve already taken care of her Dallas shop,” I said, my voice low and calculated. It was imperative to eliminate Bella before she could gain any more ground. The fire that consumed her shop was meant to be a clear message, a signal that she was not as untouchable as she thought. I envisioned her crumbling beneath the weight of her losses, retreating into herself, packing away her dreams, and fleeing from the chaos I had unleashed.

“I know, but she deserves worse,” Tasha hissed, snapping me back to the present.

“Let me handle it,” I growled, my resolve hardening. “You focus on your part. Seduce Scott. Use your body, your charm—whatever it takes to win him over.”

“It’s not that simple!” she shot back, frustration evident in her tone.

I narrowed my eyes, an idea sparking in my mind. “Have you heard of the Chainflower drug?”

Her eyes lit up with a mix of intrigue and mischief. “I have.” A grin broke across her face. “Okay, I have a plan, but I need your assistance.”

“Tell me,” I urged, leaning forward with interest, my heart racing at the thought of our potential scheme.

“We both know she’ll be keeping a low profile after the fire. What if we seize this opportunity and invite Scott to attend Samhain with our pack?”

Our territory lay nestled in a secluded valley, surrounded by towering pines and majestic mountains. Years ago, Scott had bought this land outright, granting the deeds to our people so they would never have to beg for help from a council or a bank again. Wolves who despised the city had built their cabins here, fiercely loyal to Scott, yet under the iron rule of their Alpha, Troy, who was unwaveringly devoted to him.
