**TITLE: The Perfect 395**
“Dad—”
His voice sliced through the air like a jagged knife. “You are no child of mine. You never were. I wish you stayed dead.”
The weight of his words crashed over me, a tidal wave of despair that threatened to drown me. Tears prickled at the corners of my eyes, hot and furious, as the remnants of love I had clung to in the shadows of my heart turned to ash, just as the pages of the grimoire had burned away. I stumbled backward, instinctively reaching for Alexander’s hand, seeking solace in his presence. “We should go,” I whispered, my voice trembling.
“Oh, no you don’t,” John interjected, stepping into our path with an imposing stance. The anger radiating from him was palpable, a storm brewing in his eyes as he blocked our escape. “You just killed a woman in my house. You’re not going anywhere.”
Alexander straightened, the tension in his shoulders signaling his resolve. “Margaret was a practitioner of black magic who was using you, John. How blind can you be? You witnessed the chaos she caused—”
“I saw nothing,” John shot back, his chin lifting defiantly as if trying to assert dominance over the situation. “All I saw was this… this Omega stabbing the Luna of Stormhollow!”
“I’m not an Omega!” I snapped, my frustration bubbling over. “I’m Ella!”
“That’s impossible,” John retorted, his face flushing with disbelief. “Ella is dead. Have you both gone mad?”
—
“It’s true,” Alexander asserted, his voice steady and unwavering. “John, there’s far too much to unravel right now. But you must understand that what she did was necessary to stop Margaret from inflicting even greater harm. You were there when Margaret ordered her to kill me. Don’t pretend you didn’t see it.”
John opened his mouth to protest, but Helen interjected, her voice cutting through the tension. “I told you Margaret was up to something, John. There’s more to this than meets the eye.”
“But Sophia—” John began, but Helen’s firm gaze silenced him.
“She was never going to return your daughter to you,” Alexander continued, his tone firm yet compassionate. “If Margaret promised you she would release Sophia, then it was nothing but a deceitful lie. She only wanted to manipulate you for her own selfish purposes.”
