The Sickened Luna's Last Chance novel Chapter 397

**The Perfect 397**

“Anything,” I thought, my heart heavy with desperation as I cradled my lifeless friend in my arms. “I’d give anything.”

“Anything?”

The voice echoed around me, a haunting whisper that seemed to emerge from both the depths of my mind and the shadows of the room. Was it real, or was my grief twisting reality into something unrecognizable? I felt as if I were teetering on the brink of madness, hearing voices in my sorrow.

Yet, despite the uncertainty, I found myself answering, “Anything.”

“This is a sacrifice you cannot undo…”

The voice was familiar, like a distant memory surfacing from a vast ocean of lost souls. “You will forget now, but remember when you must,” it had said. The words lingered, wrapping around my thoughts like a shroud. Where had I encountered this voice before? What implications did it hold? Did it even matter in this moment of despair?

“Whatever it is, just take it. I want Liam back.” My voice trembled with urgency, raw and desperate.

“Are you certain?”

“Absolutely.”

“Very well.” As the voice faded, it felt as if a tide of spectral hands and anguished cries receded into the abyss. A chill swept over me, a frigid wave dragging me down into darkness. Cold tendrils slithered across my skin, penetrating deeper into my muscles, my bones, until they reached the very core of my being.

Deep within my chest, where my essence dwelled, I felt something that had already been fractured suddenly shatter completely. It was as if the very ground beneath me crumbled, dissolving into the sea, forever lost to the depths. I understood then that there was no reclaiming what had been surrendered; it would now be part of the vast, indifferent ocean.

But despite the heaviness of my choice, a flicker of certainty ignited within me.

As consciousness slipped away, I knew that whatever I had relinquished was worth the price.

Yet, the truth remained: there was no turning back.
