Lindsay turned to see Jessica standing there, perfectly fine. She let out a sigh of relief.
At least she was alive.
"Let's go, it's too dangerous here." Lindsay grabbed Jessica's hand and ran back to her room, locking the door behind them.
The cruise ship now felt like a ticking time bomb, and they had no idea when it might go off.
But they were still in international waters, and it would take time to get back.
This was bad.
Lindsay suddenly thought of the crew. If the passengers were dead, what about them?
"Are you close with them?" Jessica's question broke through Lindsay's thoughts.
Lindsay came back to her senses and looked at Jessica. "One is my husband, and the other is my friend. Of course we're close.
"I just don't understand what happened on this ship. How could so many people just die? Besides us, how many others are still alive?"
Jessica tapped her lower lip with her index finger, her clear eyes holding an innocent expression. She seemed to think about it seriously before saying, "I think they're all dead."
"How would you know?" Lindsay asked, staring at her in surprise.
Jessica replied, "I've been all over the ship today, from the first deck to the sixth. It's all bodies."
Lindsay's face grew paler, and she swayed on her feet. "How could they all just die? If the crew is dead too, how are we supposed to get back?"
"Don't be scared. I can pilot the ship."
"You can?" Lindsay was stunned. "This is a cruise ship, not some small boat."
"I know. I really can do it."
Lindsay was skeptical. After all, Jessica was just an eighteen or nineteen-year-old girl, barely old enough to get a driver's license, let alone pilot a cruise ship.
Lindsay glanced worriedly at Yves and Cheryl, who were still unconscious for some unknown reason. She was terrified they might end up like the others.
If it was a massacre, why were they spared?
"What the hell happened? My head feels like it's about to explode," Cheryl moaned, clutching her head in pain.
Lindsay hurried over to her and gently massaged her temples. "Here, let me help."
"Oh, Lindsay, you're the best. I'm so grateful. But... why are you completely fine?" Cheryl quickly added, "Not that I wish you weren't, of course."
She was just confused.
People on the ship were either dead or unconscious.
And yet, Lindsay was untouched.
Lindsay found it strange too. Could it be because she went to bed early last night?
"Actually, I'm not the only one. The girl we rescued yesterday is fine too. She just went to pilot the ship."
