Remarkably, Jessica was piloting the ship quite smoothly, with very little turbulence.
Yves looked at Lindsay with surprise but said nothing.
Cheryl, however, couldn't help but exclaim, "She looks like she's barely out of her teens, and she can pilot a cruise ship? That's incredible.
"But how does someone that capable get tricked onto a ship like this?"
"She's had a hard life. She was trafficked here. She's trying to get to Skyrim to find her brother, but she doesn't even know his name or what he looks like."
Cheryl gave a wry smile. "Is that even her brother, then?"
"Let's not worry about her personal affairs right now," Yves cut in. "We need to figure out how all these people died."
He had no interest in the girl's family drama; he was focused on the sudden, inexplicable deaths.
"Let's go investigate. We can start from the first deck," Cheryl suggested.
But Lindsay countered, "Let's start on the fourth deck. I want to see if Lester is dead. And Arthur, the man who brought me here."
Yves agreed, and the three of them headed to the fourth deck.
The scene was the same as on the fifth floor. As soon as they entered, they were met with bodies strewn about, all without any visible wounds. It looked as if they'd all died of heart attacks or strokes.
One or two might have been plausible, but for everyone to die of an apparent heart attack or stroke at the same time? That was impossible.
"Do you know which room Lester was in?" Lindsay asked Yves.
"No, I wasn't paying attention to him."
"Then we'll have to check room by room. This ship is dangerous right now, so we should stick together," Lindsay suggested.
Lindsay looked worried, her brows knitted together as she was lost in thought.
"Lindsay, what are you thinking about?" Yves nudged her, bringing her back to the present.
"I was thinking about the cause of death. Why were some people just unconscious while Jessica and I were completely fine? If it was poison, why weren't we affected?"
"Is Jessica the girl you rescued last night?" Cheryl asked.
Lindsay nodded. "Yes."
Yves suddenly asked, "Where did you say she came from to find her brother?"
"From Evon."
Cheryl jumped in. "I've heard Evon is full of strange and mysterious things. Do you think she did this as revenge against the people on the ship?"
