The next morning, Felicia finally got the green light from her doctor to leave the hospital. He reminded her about the stitches on her forehead, how she needed to watch what she ate, and to try getting some real rest. She promised she would, even if she knew she was terrible at taking it easy.
Before heading out, she stopped by to check on Mason. He wasn’t as lucky. The doctors said he’d need at least another ten days in the hospital. Jeremy had already arranged for someone to look after Mason, and Tommy would stick with Felicia to help her out.
They all left the hospital together, but Felicia couldn’t go back to the Capital yet. There was still too much to deal with at the Autumnridge branch. For years, the place had been in and out of financial trouble, and the performance numbers just kept getting worse. If they wanted to secure the partnership with Westfield Clinical Research, something drastic had to change.
At the meeting yesterday, Jeremy hadn’t held back. He fired Peter and a handful of other senior managers who’d been slacking off for ages. The news sent everyone in the office into a panic. Still, for a lot of the regular employees—especially the ones who’d been overlooked for so long—it was a huge relief. Now there were gaps to fill, and Felicia needed to sort out who deserved a shot.
She insisted on handling things herself. Letting Jeremy, the big boss from headquarters, do all the dirty work felt wrong. Besides, she knew he was needed elsewhere. He’d even gotten an emergency call last night. Something major had blown up with a project in Northwick. He already suspected what was behind it, but he didn’t want Felicia to worry. That meant he needed to wrap up the situation with Jett as soon as possible.
Luke had managed to hack into Jett’s phone last night and pulled out exactly what Jeremy needed. They were supposed to deal with it today, but Jett must have caught wind of it somehow. He’d taken off during the night. The police had already tracked down some leads and put out a nationwide alert.
Jeremy told Grady to help Felicia manage the branch. Luke would stick around too, help her finish up, and then travel back to the Capital with her. He had told Max yesterday that he had business at Autumnridge, which was actually true. He’d just moved his trip up a bit.
“Luke, make sure you take care of Felicia,” Jeremy said as he was about to leave.
Luke gave a confident nod. “Don’t worry, Jeremy. I won’t let her out of my sight.”
Felicia rolled her eyes. “You both act like I’m always causing trouble.”
Luke grinned. “Well, you kind of do. You never take care of yourself.”

Update pls...
The story is a drag. How can they write crap like this where the female lead is like a lapdog, and the male lead is a complete trash? They use a child to blackmail the mother into staying. The female lead should not go back to the trashy male lead. I would prefer her to be with Jeremy....
Hey. Thank you for updating this novel here. Request you to update a big bulky lot of chapters please. It is such an interesting novel that 10 per day is simply not enough. Thanks again...
