Gavin looked over at Max, a little confused. “I don’t know. Evelynn doesn’t really seem like that kind of person. Are you saying this just because she doesn’t get along with your girlfriend?”
Max shrugged. “She’s not even worth my opinion. Just watch yourself around her.”
Gavin laughed. “You really don’t like her, huh? Don’t be so harsh. Honestly, if I did fall for her, I wouldn’t even mind.”
Max smirked. “Since when did you turn into the good guy?”
“I’ve always wanted to be a good guy,” Gavin shot back with a grin.
Max just smiled, not saying anything for a second, then added, “Just so you know, she’s not exactly single or childless.”
Gavin didn’t seem surprised. “Yeah, when I was trying to get to know her, she mentioned she was married. But from what I heard, her husband’s a jerk. Doesn’t treat her right at all. Evelynn’s gorgeous and has such a great vibe. If her husband doesn’t see that, he’s either blind or just plain dumb.”
While Gavin kept talking, he didn’t notice the way Max’s face darkened beside him.
Gavin only knew bits and pieces, mostly from Heather. He’d met Heather through Felicia, and when he tried asking Heather about Felicia, she ended up venting to him instead.
“It’s too bad I didn’t meet Evelynn sooner,” Gavin said, almost to himself. “Maybe she wouldn’t have ended up with that loser. Girls who’ve been hurt need someone to look out for them.”
He glanced over at Max and finally noticed his stormy expression. “Hey, Max, are you okay?”
Max just gave him a cold sneer and walked off.
Gavin was left standing there, completely lost.
Meanwhile, Jeremy showed up at Felicia’s door.
She opened it, looking pale and exhausted.
Jeremy hurried to help her over to the bed, then poured her a glass of warm water. “The doctor’s coming soon,” he said gently.
Felicia took the glass, sipping slowly, her hands trembling a little.
Jeremy reached out to check her forehead. “You’ve got a fever.”
He took the glass from her. “Just lie down and rest.”
A little while later, the doctor came in to check on Felicia.
Her temperature was up, a solid 101.7.
The doctor gave her a shot to help with the fever and wrote out two prescriptions.

Update pls...
The story is a drag. How can they write crap like this where the female lead is like a lapdog, and the male lead is a complete trash? They use a child to blackmail the mother into staying. The female lead should not go back to the trashy male lead. I would prefer her to be with Jeremy....
Hey. Thank you for updating this novel here. Request you to update a big bulky lot of chapters please. It is such an interesting novel that 10 per day is simply not enough. Thanks again...
