Jeremy’s voice was gentle. “You’re not making trouble for me. If anything, I’m a boss who hasn’t taken good enough care of his team.”

Felicia smiled, unable to help herself. “By the way, did Hank reach out to you?”

Jeremy nodded. “Yeah, he did. He apologized for Andrea.”

Felicia was a little surprised.

Jeremy went on, “He wouldn’t come to me just to demand answers for Andrea.”

Felicia rolled her eyes. “I bet Darin already knows his precious little sister got herself in trouble again. He might be plotting behind the scenes.”

“I haven’t heard from Darin yet. He definitely spoils Andrea, but he’s not completely unreasonable.

“She’s been coddled her whole life. No one ever stands up to her. I guess you’re the first person she’s actually lost to.”

Felicia shook her head. “She just needs someone to put her in her place. Her family never taught her any manners, so I’ll do it for them. Every time I see her.”

Jeremy laughed. “It would be better if you two just didn’t run into each other. Don’t get stressed out because of this.”

Felicia shrugged. “It’s already happened. No point pretending otherwise.”

Jeremy had some food brought up.

They still had another full day on the cruise, then they’d head back in the morning.

By evening, Felicia was feeling a lot better.

That night, Anne called her on video to ask when she’d be home and if they could meet up over the weekend.

“Last time you said I could come over and hang out. Can I still do that?”

Felicia grinned. “Of course you can.”

Anne’s bright, happy smile warmed Felicia’s heart.

While they were talking, another call popped up on Felicia’s tablet. Anne spotted it first. “Evelynn, just a second. My dad’s calling. I need to call him back.”

“No problem, Anne. Talk to your dad and we’ll catch up again tomorrow.”

Anne had already chatted with Felicia for a while, and she sounded eager to talk to her dad. “Okay! Bye, Evelynn.”
