Jeremy had built Roen Capital from scratch. In just a few years, the company exploded in size and influence, its market value soaring into the billions. It was now one of the only firms in the country that could actually go toe to toe with BlueMarble Investments. The rivalry between the two was legendary.
Jeremy insisted she join Roen Capital before, and it honestly made sense. She probably should have. But she’d been stubborn, chasing the dream she’d held onto since high school. So she turned him down. And after she joined BlueMarble Investments, things got even messier. She ended up competing directly with Roen Capital and even snatched a major project right out of Jeremy’s hands.
She’d felt guilty ever since, so guilty she could barely look at him. But Jeremy never got angry or called her ungrateful. He just said, “I knew you were special. You really surprised me.”
After that, they didn’t talk for a long time. Not until Jeremy suddenly reached out again, out of the blue. Maybe he’d known about her situation all along. In the end, the person who helped her most was the very mentor she’d once betrayed.
Love, honestly, can make you blind to everything else. But she was lucky. She still had time to make things right.
Her coworkers were still gossiping nearby.
“Division Two’s been killing it since Felicia took over. Landed a bunch of big projects. It’s a shame she got moved because of the pregnancy. If she’d handled Sterling Capital, she might have pulled it off.”
“I heard it wasn’t just the pregnancy. She apparently pissed off Mr. Hawthorne.”
One of them was about to dish more when she turned to lean against the windowsill. That’s when she spotted Felicia filling her cup at the water cooler. The conversation shut down immediately.
Felicia pretended not to notice. She grabbed her water and left the breakroom.
On her way back to her desk, she ran into Max coming down the hall. Even from several paces away, she felt his icy, intimidating energy. He was clearly in a terrible mood. Felicia didn’t look at his face. She slipped to the side, trying to be invisible.
As he walked past, the air seemed to get heavier. No one around them even dared to breathe. Felicia kept her eyes down, every muscle tense, not relaxing until he was well down the hall. She finally let out a deep breath and headed back to her desk.
She pulled out her phone and sent Jeremy a message. [Did you land the Sterling Capital deal?
No reply. He was probably swamped.
Half an hour later, he answered. [Yes. We got lucky. The new head of Division Two is really impressive, with a bunch of big wins under his belt. Losing this one must sting.]
Felicia replied, [Congratulations.]

Update pls...
The story is a drag. How can they write crap like this where the female lead is like a lapdog, and the male lead is a complete trash? They use a child to blackmail the mother into staying. The female lead should not go back to the trashy male lead. I would prefer her to be with Jeremy....
Hey. Thank you for updating this novel here. Request you to update a big bulky lot of chapters please. It is such an interesting novel that 10 per day is simply not enough. Thanks again...
