Max pulled the blanket over Anne, making sure she was tucked in before pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead. Then he quietly slipped out of the room.
Felicia watched the door close, her eyes lingering for a moment before she looked down and got back to her work. For the next two days, Anne stayed home to recover, and Felicia worked from the villa to keep her company. Max kept his regular work schedule but came home early every day to spend time with Anne. Still, even though they were all under the same roof, Felicia and Max barely spoke. The only conversations they had were the short, polite ones over dinner with Anne.
One afternoon, Felicia’s phone rang. It was Sam calling with news from the court. The divorce hadn’t been granted. Felicia wasn’t surprised. She’d seen it coming.
Later that day, after school, Heather brought Yara over to visit Anne. The two little girls sat on the rug, building towers out of colorful blocks and giggling together. While they played, Felicia found out that Jeremy had been hospitalized with a bad case of stomach flu.
“He gets so busy, he forgets to eat,” Heather said, shaking her head. “He’s been feeling off for a while now but refused to see a doctor. I guess it finally caught up with him, and he had no choice but to go to the hospital.”
Since the next day was Saturday, Felicia decided she’d visit Jeremy at the hospital.
While chatting, Heather glanced around and asked, “Felicia, are you living here now?”
Felicia let out a tired sigh and nodded. “Anne’s heart isn’t so good. I’m just staying here for a few days to look after her.”
It hurt to think about what Anne had gone through during her surgery. The image of her lying in that hospital bed was still fresh in Felicia’s mind, and it made her feel so bad.
Heather offered a look of understanding. “How did Anne end up with a heart condition?”
“It’s probably genetic,” Felicia replied. “She likely inherited it from my dad.”
Her father, Colton, had struggled with heart problems too. Five years ago, when his company hit a rough patch, his health got so bad he could barely keep up. Once things settled down, he realized he didn’t have the energy to keep running the business, so he sold it and retired. Since then, his health had gotten much better.

Update pls...
The story is a drag. How can they write crap like this where the female lead is like a lapdog, and the male lead is a complete trash? They use a child to blackmail the mother into staying. The female lead should not go back to the trashy male lead. I would prefer her to be with Jeremy....
Hey. Thank you for updating this novel here. Request you to update a big bulky lot of chapters please. It is such an interesting novel that 10 per day is simply not enough. Thanks again...
