Max’s eyes turned icy when he heard that. He let out a cold, mocking laugh, then spun around and walked straight out of the building.

Jeremy watched him go, then glanced down at Felicia with a gentler tone. “Come on, let’s head back upstairs.”

Felicia took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. “Okay,” she said, nodding.

Back in the hospital room, Felicia couldn’t hold back her frustration. “I really underestimated just how shameless he can be. The way he twists everything around is unreal.”

Jeremy looked at her, not the least bit bothered by Max’s earlier words. For a second, he didn’t know if he should feel relieved or just helpless. Felicia’s emotions were completely tied up in the divorce and her feelings for Anne. She barely had any energy left for anything else.

He let out a quiet sigh. “Getting worked up with him won’t solve anything.”

Felicia exhaled again, trying to let it go. She’d told herself over and over not to let Max get to her, but just one word from him was enough to make her lose her cool. If Jeremy hadn’t stopped her, she probably would have exploded.

“The best thing you can do is just avoid him as much as possible,” Jeremy said. “People like Max, who are so stuck on themselves, are almost impossible to deal with head-on.”

Felicia nodded. He was totally right.

Around noon, Savannah came by to visit Jeremy. The three of them had lunch together, but Felicia and Savannah didn’t stay long before heading out.

Felicia drove home to the Ross family’s villa. As she pulled up to the gate, a white Maserati came toward her. Sitting in the back seat, Yvonne noticed Felicia behind the wheel. Her expression didn’t change at all.

When Felicia got inside, she found Colton alone on the couch. Ava and Sean were nowhere to be seen.

“Dad,” Felicia called softly.

Colton looked up, quickly hiding whatever was on his mind. “Felicia, you’re back.”

She walked over. “Where are Mom and Sean?”

“Your mom’s upstairs putting Sean down for a nap,” Colton said. “You’re home early today. Where’s Anne?”
