Millie followed their gaze.
It was obvious—Mr. Hawthorne didn’t bother to hide the disdain and irritation in his eyes when he looked at Danielle.
She let out a faint, almost indifferent smile. “Survival of the fittest. In tech, there’s no room for anyone who can’t pull their weight. Even assistants need to prove their worth.”
Crossing her arms, Millie looked away, her voice cool and detached. “Honestly, I doubt she’ll last much longer at Ninesky.”
Liam had never thought much of Danielle.
What a waste of a pretty face, he thought. Underneath it all, she was nothing but scheming and petty.
“She never used to be so ambitious,” he said, glancing at Millie as he analyzed the situation. “It’s only after you came back—seeing you shine at work, achieving so much—that she started scrambling to compete. She couldn’t keep up with you, so she started taking it out on Alex.”
He gave a dismissive snort. “She probably never imagined Alex would actually go through with the divorce. Now she’s really blindsided—completely unaware of her own limitations.”
“I’m curious to see what happens once the waiting period is over. Will she actually go through with it, or will she end up begging Alex for another chance?”
Millie listened, a faint smile playing on her lips.
Danielle could never match up to her; they weren’t even in the same league. There was simply no comparison.
She glanced at Alexander sitting beside her.
He was staring down at his phone, apparently handling some work emails.
Whether or not he was listening to their conversation was anyone’s guess.
But Alexander had never shown much interest in talking about Danielle.
Millie tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, her tone genuinely thoughtful. “Honestly, there’s nothing wrong with women having dreams. But when your ambitions are that out of reach, it stops being a dream—it’s just wishful thinking.”
She smiled, her gaze drifting to Alexander. “Every woman has her strengths. Some are born to conquer the corporate world, others are the backbone of their families. Sometimes I really envy Miss Crawford; she’s got every household chore down to an art.”

The readers' comments on the novel: The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
Please update...
The last chapter was too short. More pls. Thank you....
Lovin' this. More more pls!...
