Alexander’s voice was steady, almost cold. “Everything is as usual,” he said. “If you’re so interested in our marriage, Father, feel free to install cameras at the house. Post a guard at the door if you like. That’s your style, isn’t it?”
Jake listened without even a flicker of irritation.
Bianca, watching her husband return home, shrank into herself, keeping quiet on the sidelines. When Jake was away, she strutted around like she owned the place—queen of the castle in the king’s absence. But with him home, she didn’t dare step out of line.
Jake’s rules were strict. No one in this house was allowed even the smallest mistake.
A voice broke the tension. “Mr. Davidson—” someone called out. “Miss Crawford, is she Mrs. Davidson?”
Jake didn’t answer right away. He simply lit a cigarette, his silence thick with authority. Every move he made radiated that air of command, the kind that sent chills down your spine. Even the calm in his eyes was unnerving.
He exhaled a slow stream of smoke, then turned toward Millie. “Danielle is my son’s lawful wife—the only Mrs. Davidson in this family.”
“Then why have I been hearing rumors lately,” someone muttered, “that Mrs. Davidson is someone else?”
Millie’s knees nearly buckled. Her normally sharp mind went utterly blank.
If Jake acknowledged Danielle’s status now, everyone would know Millie had tried to seize the title for herself. At the company’s anniversary gala, she’d already spread word that she was to be introduced as Mrs. Davidson. Alex had never told her Jake would be coming home for the event. She’d thought the evening would be her grand entrance.
Now, with Jake’s statement, the blow was public and humiliating. Leanne and Orson’s faces were equally ashen. They had thought they were about to forge a legitimate connection to the Davidson family—now they just wanted the earth to swallow them up.
Millie clenched her fists, fighting to keep her composure. She took a deep breath. “Mr. Davidson, surely there’s been some misunderstanding—just idle gossip. No one should pay any mind to such rumors.”
Jake’s eyes were unreadable. He glanced at her coolly and asked, “So, you’re saying my judgment is faulty?”

The readers' comments on the novel: The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
Please update...
The last chapter was too short. More pls. Thank you....
