Alexander sat motionless, a pen in his hand, but his gaze was fixed on Danielle.
When he saw River Atwood lean in close to her, his knuckles turned white as he gripped the pen, a sharp pang of jealousy twisting in his gut.
But he said nothing, just watched in silence.
He knew he had no right to interfere in her life now. Her words from yesterday—"Maybe we can face this together"—echoed in his mind, a source of both hope and agony. All he could do was crush his emotions under a wall of silence.
Dean Channing cleared his throat, calling the meeting to order.
"Today's agenda covers the supply chain for the core drone components and the arrangements for next week's field tests."
He looked at Alexander. "President Davidson, what's the status of the resource coordination from The Guild?"
Alexander dragged his eyes away from Danielle, his voice cool and distant. "The infrared modules have been delivered to the Aerospace Institute's warehouse, and the composite material samples will arrive tomorrow. I've also arranged for the site and equipment needed for the field test. We can begin anytime."
"Excellent." Dean Channing nodded, then turned to Nathan Davidson. "And on Vanguard Technologies' end, is the software system debugging on schedule?"
Nathan set down his coffee, a smile playing on his lips. "No problem at all. Our tech team has already coordinated with the Aerospace Institute to ensure we don't delay the testing schedule."
He paused, his gaze sweeping over Danielle and Alexander before adding, "However, moving forward, we'll likely need Chief Engineer Crawford and President Davidson to communicate more frequently. After all, the core technology and resources are in your hands."
Danielle looked up at Alexander, her eyes meeting his for a brief, charged second before they both quickly looked away. The atmosphere in the room grew tense.
The meeting continued, with River occasionally murmuring to Danielle about work. Alexander listened silently, signing documents when needed, but his mind was consumed by Danielle's words from the day before: *Maybe we can face this together.*
He wanted to say yes, to pull her behind him and shield her from everything. But the thought of Nathan lurking in the shadows, of all the dangers still unknown, forced him to bury the impulse.

Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
