Danielle froze and turned to see Nathan standing before Alexander, a mocking smile on his face, his provocation deliberate and cruel.
The air grew thick with tension. Everyone held their breath, waiting for Alexander's reaction.
But Alexander merely glanced at Nathan, his voice devoid of emotion. "You don't need to concern yourself with my affairs, *brother*."
"Instead of worrying about me, you should be thinking about how you're going to explain the plagiarized content in your technical proposal to the judges."
The words hit their mark. Nathan's face darkened, and he glared at Alexander, speechless.
Alexander ignored him and walked toward the judges' panel. As he passed Danielle, he paused and murmured, his voice low enough for only her to hear, "Don't worry. I'm here."
Danielle watched him go, a storm of emotions churning inside her. He was always like this. Bearing so much himself, yet still finding the strength to comfort her. He acted so normal, so composed, but she alone knew the agony hidden beneath the mask.
The Q&A began. Danielle stood on stage, answering questions about technical details, her voice steady and confident, though her eyes kept drifting to Alexander in the front row. He listened intently, occasionally jotting down notes, his face an unreadable mask.
He never let his true feelings show.
After a series of questions about market prospects and technical challenges, which Danielle handled with ease, Nathan suddenly stood up.
"Chief Engineer Crawford, the drone endurance technology you mentioned bears a striking resemblance to Dean Gresham's unpublished research from three years ago. Could you please clarify if there has been any technological theft involved?"
A wave of murmurs swept through the room.
Nathan stared, dumbfounded. He had never expected Alexander to personally vouch for Danielle. His face contorted with rage, but he didn't dare say another word.
Danielle looked at Alexander on the stage.
She knew that to defend her, he had just willingly revisited his most painful memories in public, exposing his deep connection to Dean Gresham for all to see.
The explosive confrontation had shattered any remaining pretense between them. Nathan had finally shown his true colors.
Danielle's mind was heavy. The tender presentation had been a storm, but they had weathered it. She just hadn't expected Alexander to show up at Nexus Prime again today.

I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
