Nathan set the jade pendant down and stood, dusting off his clothes. "What's the matter, little brother? Not a very warm welcome," he said with a lazy smile. "I was just trying to do what's best for the family. We can't have a child with Davidson blood wandering the streets, can we? Think of the optics."
He paused, his words dripping with insinuation. "Besides, he carries the family name. You can't just ignore him forever, can you, *Father*?"
"He is not my son," Alexander said with a sneer. "He was already sent away. Why bring him back?"
Raffy's eyes filled with tears, which began to stream down his face.
"Don't you dare take that tone with me," Jake bellowed, slamming his hand on the table as he rose to his feet. He pointed a trembling finger at Raffy. "Whether you admit it or not, the world believes he's your son! Your brother has done the right thing by bringing him home, and now you will accept him and raise him properly. Otherwise, the family's reputation will be destroyed, the company's stock will plummet, and you will be the one to bear the consequences!"
Bianca rushed to Alexander's side, grabbing his arm. "Alex, please, just listen to your father," she pleaded. "The boy has been through so much. We can help you raise him here. It's better than leaving him to suffer out there."
Paula sighed. "He's right, little brother. This isn't the time for pride. Just take the boy in and let's put these rumors to rest."
"I'm not the one using him as a chip," Alexander replied, his voice calm. "You are the ones forcing me to acknowledge him. And if I'm going to do it, I'll do it completely. A half-hearted attempt would only make me look guilty and give our enemies more leverage."
Nathan's eyes flickered. He hadn't anticipated such a bold countermove. He had assumed that under the weight of public and family pressure, Alexander would reluctantly fold. Then he could spend years chipping away at Alexander's reputation, painting him as a cold, heartless man. But this changed everything.
"Alex, that's not reasonable," Nathan interjected smoothly. "The boy is still young. It's too soon to talk about inheritances."

I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
