Three Years Wasted I Married Mr. Right novel Chapter 145

Chapter 145

David’s eyes narrowed as he stared at Sophia’s face.

The emergency stairwell was shrouded in darkness, with only that ghastly green glow from the exit signs making Sophia’s face look like some vengeful spirit lurking in the shadows.

David was chilled to the core. He asked, What the hell are you talking about?

Don’t pretend with me, David. You already knowI’m not Charles and Margaret’s child, am I?Sophia shot back, her voice cold as ice, not wavering in the slightest.

Hearing her call their parents by their first names, David’s fury exploded. He snapped, You don’t even know how to show respect? Where are your damn manners?

He just hid how shaken he was inside, masking it all with anger.

David grumbled inwardly, For three years, Sophia’s bent over backward for them, playing the perfect doormat and never suspecting a thingso how did she suddenly see through it all today?

He still had no clue that Emily had already told Sophia the truth.

Sophia made her way down the stairs, pausing halfway and gazing down at David with an icy, commanding stare from above.

David, I’m not really your sister, am I?Sophia asked, her voice cold and unwavering.

David ignored her, mocked her, humiliated her, and lately, he had even gone so far as to hit her.

Sophia thought, If he is really my brother, no matter how distant we have become, there’s no way he’ll treat his longlost sister like this.

For the first time, David couldn’t even look into Sophia’s bright, unwavering eyes.

Back then, the only reason they decided to bring Sophia home to the Evans family was because it was time to follow Marcus’s will.

They had to bring her back and con her into signing those shares away.

They’d kept the whole scheme locked down so tight that Sophia was completely in the dark.

What are you even talking about? If you weren’t my real sister, why would we go through all this trouble and waste all that money dragging you back here?David shot back, trying to sound pissed.

Sophia couldn’t make sense of it either, but she knew Emily wouldn’t just throw out accusations for nothing.

She narrowed her eyes and said, Honestly, I want to know why Emily claims I’m not really family.”

If there was any doubt, a DNA test would answer everything. Lucky for her, she’d actually learned about DNA testing from Annabelle’s parents.

David stared at Emily in shock.

Emily never expected Sophia to put her on blast like that, right in front of everyone. She lowered her head, avoiding David’s gaze.

Just then, the emergency door burst openCharles and Margaret came rushing in, breathless and frantic after hearing the commotion.

When Margaret saw Emily sprawled on the floor, unable to move, she looked like she was about to lose it entirely.

She cried, Emily, how did you get hurt like this? Who pushed you down the stairs? Tell me, sweetheart, and I’ll get justice for you.”

As soon as Emily saw Margaret, tears streamed down her face. She choked out, Mommy, it hurts so much.

Margaret was beside herself with worry. She was desperate to comfort Emily but terrified of making her pain worse, and just didn’t know what to do.

She whipped around and glared furiously at Sophia, who stood up on the landing, looking down at them from above.

Did you push Emily down the stairs? Just how evil can you get? I’m calling the policeI swear, you’re going to pay for this,Margaret spat, trembling with anger.

Sophia lounged against the railing and said, Go for it. Maybe the cops should answer one thing for me: what’s the penalty for pretending to be someone’s family?

That single retort floored Margaret, leaving her rooted to the spot, speechless.

Charles frowned and snapped, Sophia, what drama are you pulling now? What’s this nonsense about faking family ties?

Sophia shot back, Why don’t you ask Emily? She called me over to the stairs, told me flat out I’m not really your kid, and then flung herself down the stairs.

Actually, here’s what I want to know: why have you two been pretending to be my real parents?

Emily cursed Sophia in her mind, calling her a complete lunatic.

Margaret was thrown off by Sophia’s words, momentarily stunned. She said, I see what you’re doingtrying to dodge responsibility and confuse everyone! Sophia, I don’t care what you told Emily. You pushed her down those stairs, and that’s the truth.

If she ends up crippled or paralyzed, this will haunt you for the rest of your life!
