After Hunter finally let Noelle go, she headed into the restroom to freshen up. She looked in the mirror, and sure enough, her lips were swollen and tingling faintly.
Unbelievable… Hunter was just a year younger than her, but why did he kiss like an overeager teenager with no self-control?
When Bonnie heard Noelle would be joining them for lunch, she was over the moon and bouncing around in excitement. Seeing her so happy made Noelle's heart ache with tenderness, and she found herself talking to Bonnie more than usual.
After the meal, Noelle turned down Hunter's offer to give her a ride and returned to the intensive training camp alone.
The moment she arrived, the camp called an all-hands meeting. The incident had been too serious to ignore, and instigating poisoning was unacceptable anywhere.
Besides, the poison had been tested and confirmed to be highly potent. If Noelle had actually been poisoned, she would likely have spent the rest of her life bedridden, and her racing career would have been ruined.
The camp's decision was to expel Shannon on the spot. As for any legal consequences from the police investigation, what further punishment she might face was no longer in their hands.
…
In the main hall, Jude sat at the center of the stage, flanked by coaches on both sides. Below them were racers of the intensive training camp, and further back stood rows of the camp staff.
Jude sternly condemned Shannon's behavior before praising Jayden and Nicola.
Faced with temptation, Jayden had contacted Noelle from the start and reported everything. The fact that he hadn't listened to Hazel's scheme to poison Noelle showed that he knew what was the right thing to do.
Nicola had cooperated with Noelle and bravely exposed Shannon by gathering evidence. That showed she wasn't intimidated by power. Both of them were formally commended with certificates and cash rewards from the camp authorities.
At last, Jude solemnly added, "The quick thinking and courage of these two young racers saved Ms. Quinn from disaster. That alone deserves recognition.
"Our camp has always valued talent. If you want to advance, there's no need for dirty tricks; just train hard, and you'll reach your goals."
Then, he looked up at the crowd and continued, "Now that Shannon's been expelled, Turbolt Racing remains suspended, but their routine training must continue.
Noelle nodded. "I believe members of Turbolt Racing were led astray by Shannon. They have solid skills, and since they're willing to reflect, we should give them a chance."
Members of Turbolt Racing almost wept with gratitude. She was defending them after everything they'd done to her. They didn't deserve her kindness at all.
Noelle continued, "But to prevent further misconduct, I think they should report on one another. Minor offenses mean they train as usual, but serious offenses—as Jayden suggested—mean training combined with labor. Anyone guilty of major violations will be expelled."
Turbolt Racing members froze, while Jude approved the proposal. Under mutual reporting within the members, one of Shannon's assistants was found guilty of repeated offenses and expelled outright.
Two others who'd shoved Noelle were assigned to labor reform. Not only would they carry on with their usual training, but they also had to take on all chores within the intensive training camp.
The rest were split up among different teams, fitted with electronic monitors, and placed on a three-month probation. If they passed, the electronic monitors would be removed.
Turbolt Racing members looked devastated, but Noelle told them, "Don't blame us for being strict. Coach Landaal is still giving you a chance."
