Too Good for You The Ex-Wife You Lost novel Chapter 118

On the day of the qualifying race, Lola entered the spectator stands with Clifford and Zayne.

Usually, someone of her status would have no access to such events, but now that she was Quake, getting tickets to a qualifying race was a piece of cake.

This was Clifford's first time at such a massive racing event. Compared to this, the regional league championships he'd seen before looked like child's play.

Zayne was excited, too, though his eyes had been bothering him lately. They were dry, aching, and sometimes even blurry, so he frequently rubbed them to ease the discomfort.

He'd told Lola about his eye pain and hoped she'd take him to a doctor, but she'd handed him eye drops. She'd told him to use them if it hurt because staying in the hospital would mean missing the qualifying race. So, to attend the event, he had no choice but to swallow the discomfort.

As they reached their seats, Zayne noticed Bonnie seated in the row ahead, happily playing with a race car model. It looked strikingly similar to the kind of model Noelle had once given him.

Without a word, he reached out to snatch it.

Caught up in playing with the race car model, Bonnie had never expected anyone to grab it. Her little face scrunched up in anger as she called out, "That's my toy! Give it back!"

Hunter had been by her side, but he'd stepped away to take a call, and Juned had gone to get her ice cream. So right now, she was alone for the moment.

Zayne turned the race car model over in his hands. He realized it wasn't just like the one he had, but an upgraded version, sleeker in design and sharper in function.

"What are you getting so worked up about? I was just taking a look! Who cares about your dumb toy anyway?" Losing interest, he carelessly tossed it to the floor, and two wheels of the race car model snapped off.

Bonnie's fury exploded. With her hands on her hips, she began firing back like a tiny cannon. "You're the one with a dumb toy! This is a gift from my mommy, and I spent forever putting it together! You're a bad kid for not asking without grabbing it over!"

She'd never been a gentle, soft-spoken girl. Hunter had always told her to stand up for herself when she was out in the world, or she'd get pushed around.

Zayne hadn't expected her to have such a loud voice. For a moment, people around them turned to stare, and his face flushed with embarrassment.

"What's the big deal? I didn't mean to break it and just wanted a look. If it breaks that easily, it just means that the toy was cheap in the first place."

She cried pitifully, her tears instantly stirring Noelle's protectiveness. The latter frowned and turned toward the family of three, just as Clifford and his group recognized her.

Clifford stared in disbelief at Bonnie and could barely believe her ears. "What did you just call her?"

"She's my mommy, so what? She's pretty, right?" Bonnie huffed.

She turned back to Zayne and shot him a triumphant glance. "Your mommy isn't as pretty as mine. Her chin is obviously fake, her nose has been lifted, and her lips look like overfilled sausages!"

Lola nearly passed out from rage, while Zayne leaped to his feet. "Shut up!"

He swung a hand toward Bonnie for a slap, only to have an arm smack it aside.

While he was stunned, he watched as Noelle picked up Bonnie and turned to look at him coldly. "Zayne, you should apologize and make up for taking someone else's toy and breaking it. Has your dad never taught you that much?"
