Too Good for You The Ex-Wife You Lost novel Chapter 128

The location was the Charm Lounge in Brindley.

Lately, Shannon had been spending every bit of free time at the lounge, hanging out with her usual crowd of party friends.

It wasn't just boredom. She was about to head overseas, and no one knew when she'd be back. So, the drinking and partying never stopped.

Tonight, she'd gathered a group of her closest rich friends.

She was famous for being spoiled by her family. Her parents' status wasn't all that high, but she had a sister who made all the difference.

Ever since Felicia had married Allan, who was 20 years older, the Fawcett family's standing had shot up.

No one ever accused Felicia of being a gold-digger, though. Allan was from the Haberkorn family, one of the four wealthiest families in Brindley. Even if he wasn't from the main branch, his position in Brindley was still high.

Soon, the private room was packed.

The servers came in with drinks and fruit platters.

Shannon's crowd had always treated the staff like toys. For them, the fun was in humiliating the servers until they were begging on their knees. Right in the middle of their rowdy fun, the door swung open.

A waitress walked in carrying a tray of drinks. She looked completely ordinary, but for some reason, Shannon's eyes kept drifting toward her.

She looked her over again and confirmed she was just an ordinary woman. She smirked and called her over.

The waitress did as she was told.

Shannon liked her submissiveness. "Pour it nice and slow. We want to drink with a little twist tonight."

The waitress glanced at her, confused.

Shannon gave a sly laugh and turned to the men in the room. "Gentlemen, we've got ourselves a beauty pouring our drinks tonight. You know what that means."

She had called the waitress "a beauty" just to make a joke at her expense.

As expected, the men burst out laughing. "Shannon, are you blind for calling this woman a beauty?"

There were plenty of ordinary women looking like this on the street.

Shannon's smile faltered. "If I say she is, she is. Get on with it."

The men grinned and started fooling around. One set his glass in his lap, another on his thigh, another on the chest of the woman beside him.

"Shannon, forget having her pour. Make her drink instead!" one of them shouted.

"Yeah, let her finish every last glass, and then we'll let her walk out of here!"

Shannon turned her triumphant gaze on the waitress, expecting fear or panic.

That single sentence made Shannon freeze. Her face fell. "Do you know me?"

Tears rolled down the waitress's cheeks. "A few years ago, you raced in Brindley's endurance event. I was part of your fan club…"

Shannon's expression twisted. Her good mood snapped like a twig.

Anyone else would be fine, but this waitress was her fan.

The people around them started jeering. "Oh, damn, Shannon, she's your fan? That makes it even better!"

"Come on, Shannon, you believe her? What if she's just feeding you a line?"

Shannon's chest tightened. She couldn't even meet the waitress's eyes. "Get out of here."

She'd already been kicked out of intensive training camp and had no chance at official races anymore. Her life was frustrating enough, but she wasn't about to abuse a former fan.

The waitress set a bottle of hangover tea in front of her with teary eyes. "Shannon, we're all waiting for you to come back to racing. Don't give up, and don't drink so much. It's bad for your health."

With that, she stood and walked away.

Shannon's mood soured even more. She glanced at the bottle, lifted it, ready to toss it straight into the trash. But in the end, she put it back down without a word.

Then, she picked up her glass and kept drinking.
