Too Good for You The Ex-Wife You Lost novel Chapter 140

Lola naturally found Wilson's showiness irritating and shot him a look of mild disdain.

Fortunately, he was not completely clueless; he immediately zipped his mouth shut.

At that moment, Raymond happened to arrive, catching the entire scene.

Noelle didn't miss the opportunity Lola had unintentionally handed her. She stepped forward, pretending to study the schematics. After a glance, she turned to Lola. "Quake, your car's modifications are really interesting. What considerations guided your choices?"

Lola straightened her expression.

She had spent the entire afternoon preparing, so there was no way she would be caught off guard that easily.

She also noticed that Lucy seemed to have a subtle, almost imperceptible way of challenging her.

Lola stepped closer, pride tinting her voice. "I modified this car to increase its speed while making the bodywork more streamlined and unique. I made subtle adjustments in both areas to balance performance with aesthetics."

She straightened her back. "Modifications are always a personal pursuit, so mine reflect my own style and preferences."

She looked at Noelle apologetically. "But you aren't familiar with car modifications, so I can understand why you would ask, Ms. Lucy."

Noelle let out a drawn-out "oh", then gave a soft laugh. "So, you reinforced the welds and added a roll cage just to boost speed? Funny, I thought it was about improving torsional rigidity and strengthening the chassis."

Her voice carried a chill. "No wonder you're a master. Your approach is completely different from ours."

Lola's expression froze. It hit her instantly that Lucy was setting a trap again.

The issue Noelle had just pointed out was the very one Lola had deliberately glossed over.

Perhaps an outsider couldn't tell, but anyone with even a basic understanding of modifications would see that Lucy's expertise far surpassed hers.

"No wonder you're the head of Cobalt Club. Your technical insight is truly impressive!"

Asher, who had spent the morning following Noelle for guidance, looked at her with awe. "Ms. Lucy, you clearly understand car modification very well."

Noelle smiled lightly. "Quake, I think you're overthinking. We'd only interacted a little a long time ago."

Lola's eyes widened, heart racing. She stammered, "R-Really?"

Noelle nodded. "It was just online, but you told me you're a very skilled racer. So when I first saw you, I admit I was a bit puzzled. You didn't exactly look like a racer."

The tension in Lola's chest finally eased.

She curved her lips into a faint smile. "So, that's how it is. Yes, I am a racer, but I've kept that part of myself under wraps. You know how it is. Once the name Quake comes up, it attracts too much attention. I would rather stay low-key than invite unnecessary trouble."

Noelle suppressed a snicker and thought, "So now you realize the kind of trouble it brings? Rest assured, once you take on the Quake persona, the complications never end."

Noelle's tone turned cool. "There's a track in the villa. If you're interested, Quake, you could race a lap to relax. I like racing too, but I'm just an enthusiast. Your skills must be quite impressive."

Before Lola could respond, Wilson suddenly piped up, "Quake, why don't you race Ms. Lucy tomorrow? Let's see who's the better driver!"
