At first, Maxine had never considered Noelle to be a real threat.
Noelle was a divorced woman with no support. No matter how capable she was, she'd have no way of fighting back if Maxine came down hard on her.
Besides, Maxine had the Haberkorns on her side. Who would dare to challenge her when she was up against a sly, scheming woman?
The Haberkorns would praise her for being sensible and for guiding Hunter back onto the right path.
"A misunderstanding?"
Albert gave a sinister chuckle as he pointed out the filthy and dilapidated state of the interrogation room. "We all heard what your underling said. You wouldn't even give her a bottle of water. Is this an investigation or a torture session?"
He kicked open the door.
Noelle was already on her feet. Her steps were a little unsteady, but she was otherwise unharmed.
Jude hurried to check her over for any signs of injury. "Are you hurt anywhere? You scared me half to death. I was in a meeting out of town. Before I knew it, I was on the next flight back when I got the news. I was worried that something had happened to you."
Noelle was the crown jewel of the intensive training camp. No one was allowed to lay a finger on her!
"You'd better give us an explanation for this, Xavier. You can't let my protege suffer for no reason!"
Jude barked at Xavier. "If you screw this up, your task force can pack it up!"
He was going to shut it all down!
After all, Jude was the national team's head coach. His words carried weight.
Xavier quickly apologized, his eyes repeatedly darting toward Maxine. Was she going to pin this all on him?
He never ordered anyone to deprive Noelle of food and water!
Maxine's composure was starting to crack. At the moment, Albert spotted the documents on the table. Hannah was about to snatch them up, but Albert moved quicker.
When he read what was written on them, he burst out laughing.
"What the hell is this? You want my boss to admit that she was the one who seduced Hunter?"
His glare turned vicious as he looked at Hunter. "Why is your name on this too, Hunter?"
Hunter's face darkened. His eyes grew cold as they fell on Maxine after reading the words on the papers. "You wanted her to sign this ?"
If Noelle had signed, it would've been an admission of wrongdoing. Her career would've undoubtedly been impacted. She could even be barred from competing on an international stage.
Albert sneered. "No one wants your life, you old geezer."
Noelle rubbed the tip of her nose. Their bickering gave her a headache. "That's enough. Let's just go. You're all acting like children."
Albert raised his head high to shoot Maxine a glare. "I'll remember this. Just you wait. The Hamiltons will be coming to settle the score!"
Maxine went deathly pale. She had already lowered herself to apologize to Noelle. What more did they want?
What was it about Noelle that made everyone side with her?
Maxine's expression sank. However, she didn't dare to utter a word.
Noelle couldn't be bothered with her. She silently walked toward the door, ready to get into Albert's car and take off.
Hunter grabbed her by her wrist. There was an intense look in his dark eyes. "Can we speak in private, Noelle?"
Noelle had a good idea about what he was going to say. Before she could respond, Albert smacked his hand away. "Watch yourself, Hunter! Don't go grabbing at her. She isn't someone you can touch whenever you feel like it!"
Hunter was about to speak when a sweet voice piped up. "Mommy!"
Everyone froze!
