Trapped in the boss's embrace (by Katrina A) novel Chapter 141

Chapter 141 Lay Down the Law First

Damian seemed to sense Beatrice's stare and looked back.

Their eyes locked, and a jolt of electricity crackled between them, leaving her rooted to the spot.

Damian gave a knowing smile, as if he could read her mind right then.

With a tender touch, he patted the back of her head, soothing her like a skittish kid.

Without uttering a single word, a comforting sense of security washed over Beatrice.

It was like hunkering down by a crackling fire in a snug glasshouse during a snowstorm, watching the tempest outside without a care.

It felt straight out of a fairytale, even though she'd never been one to buy into that stuff.

Beatrice shifted her attention back to the group.

Meanwhile, Olivia was watching them, lost in thought. Her face showed a mix of sorrow and resignation. "Guys are supposed to protect the girls they fancy. I know my Noah never had second thoughts about it…"

The room fell into a heavy silence. The topic of regret was a tough nut to crack, leaving everyone at a loss for words.

Logan interjected, stepping in for his sister, "I'll take it from here.

"The last call Noah made was to Nico the day he went missing. At that time, Madeline had already taken Nico away. She was left disfigured and had been… assaulted.

"We learned from other kids at school that Madeline had been bothering them both for days. We had no doubt she was involved, but when the police questioned her, she claimed she'd just taken Nico shopping and parted ways shortly after.

"They let her go without a second thought, despite her obvious suspicious behavior, and even the school security footage vanished.

"My sister wasn't going to stand by. When she found out that Madeline had returned to Cloudia, she kept trying to confront Madeline but couldn't even get into Fairfax Manor.

"With a glimmer of hope at first, she thought maybe Noah was being held somewhere. We made a scene at the police station and waited outside the manor, but soon, we started receiving threats, and strange incidents began happening at home.

"That's when we realized the Fairfax family had gone too far. We knew Noah was probably gone.

"My sister orchestrated a fake gas explosion to make it seem like she had died, and then she disappeared.

"We tried to investigate on our own, but we had no money to hire a private detective. Lacking experience and connections, we searched bit by bit until finally locking our sights on the orchard.

"We tracked down Noah and gathered the evidence. But, sad to say, after all that blood, sweat, and tears, we got cold feet about handing it over to the cops.

"We were terrified the evidence would go up in smoke. We were broke and had no clout, and there was no way we could take on the Fairfax family. The law was no help at all. My sister sank into a deep depression.

"She was only 45, but those five years felt like a lifetime. Her hair went completely white. The pain she went through was just unbearable."

As Beatrice and Violet listened, the gravity of the story bore down on them.

How could a mother shoulder such a crushing burden? The pain was beyond belief.

Yet, this mother was one tough cookie; she'd held on and never thrown in the towel. She'd found the answers, but the kicker was that the world still wouldn't give her justice.

Right then, they realized Noah had been back with his mom.

The Fairfax family probably never dreamed that Olivia would take away the remains.

Jane was still over the moon, convinced once again that her evil daughter would get away scot-free.

"Who says the law won't come through for you? This time, I'm gonna lock Madeline up and throw away the key! That low-life doesn't deserve to roam free! Have faith in the law; believe in justice!" Violet smacked the table with her hand, her voice full of fire.

Violet just couldn't sit back and watch the emblem of justice get soiled by the muck of evil.

Sure, she knew the darkness was lurking around every corner, but she flat-out refused to let it rub off on her. She was declaring all-out war on every last bit of corruption.

Violet's fiery passion rekindled a glimmer of hope in Logan and Olivia.

Their eyes lit up with determination.

Beatrice swelled with pride.

Violet is justice personified; anyone who hears her rousing words can't help but get fired up!

Damian was taken aback for a split second by her fiery intensity.

Then he let out a soft chuckle.

If only Beatrice had the moxie to lay down the law first like this.
