Oliver and Noah squished their faces against the back window, eyes wide as they watched their mom.

Noah’s voice was small. “Can Mom really handle that guy by herself?”

Oliver grinned. “Of course she can. This is nothing for her. Just wait and see.”

Over by the black car, a man in dark clothes was fiddling with his camera, totally unaware that Madeline was already right in front of him.

He finally looked up, just as she snatched the camera out of his hands. “Hey—”

He lunged for it, but stopped short when he realized the tall woman was blocking his path.

Madeline held the camera easily, her eyes sharp and cold. “What are you taking pictures of?”

The man froze, his heart thumping. “N-nothing. Give me back my camera.”

She arched an eyebrow, flipping through the photos. “Why are you secretly taking pictures of me?”

Busted, the guy got flustered and defensive. “I’m not taking pictures of you. I was just messing around. Give it back.”

Madeline didn’t bother to answer. She just spun the camera in her hand, looking bored.

The man watched her nervously. “Careful! That camera’s expensive.”

“Oh, really?” Madeline tilted her head. “Here.”

He reached out, but she flicked her wrist and tossed the camera straight up.

“My camera!” he yelped, scrambling to catch it, but it landed perfectly back in Madeline’s hand.

He glared at her, terrified she’d smash it at any second.

Madeline looked at him calmly. “So, who sent you?”
