Brenda picked up a piece of meat, shoved it in her mouth, and chewed like she was grinding an axe. She didn’t even bother looking their way.

Raine acted like she hadn’t heard a word. She stepped closer, her face all soft concern as she looked at Madeline. “Where have you been all these years? Grandma and Dad have been so worried about you.”

Madeline’s brows drew together, a cold disgust rising in her chest.

Raine gave Madeline a once-over, lingering on Madeline’s plain clothes and then flicking her gaze to the food on the table. Her lips curled into a smug little smile. “Looks like life’s been hard for you. Golden Spoon isn’t cheap, you know. Can you really afford to eat here now?”

She stared at Madeline with open contempt.

Next to her, Helene couldn’t hide a mocking grin.

Madeline’s expression turned icy. She lifted her phone and said, “Two disgusting people just showed up. I’ll call you back.”

“Alright.” Casey had clearly heard everything. His voice was colder when he hung up. “Golden Spoon!”

Madeline replied coolly, “That’s none of your business.”

Raine tried to look wounded, but her eyes were sharp. “I’m just trying to care about you. How about this? When you’re ready to leave, call me over. I’ll take care of your bill. We’re family, after all. It’s been so long since we’ve seen each other. Let me treat you.”

She looked at Madeline like she was doing her some huge favor.

Madeline rolled her eyes. “Are you really set on ruining everyone’s appetite, or is it just a hobby?”
