Twin Cupids at Work: Daddy, Come Home! novel Chapter 57

Madeline gently ruffled the little one’s hair. “I’m not mad, sweetheart. I’m actually really happy you’re here, Oliver. And don’t worry, Mommy will always protect you.”

Noah nodded, so serious it almost made her laugh. “And I’ll protect you too, Mommy.”

Madeline’s eyes softened, a smile slipping in. “Did you have dinner yet, Oliver?”

Noah shook his head. “Not yet.”

He’d been so caught up sneaking away from the bodyguards and plotting with Oliver that he completely forgot about food.

“How about I make you some of your favorite noodles?” she offered.

Noah nodded right away. “Mommy, I want to help.”

“Alright. Oh, and Oliver, since we’ll be living here for a while, I need to take you to pick out your new school tomorrow.”

Noah nodded obediently. “Okay, whatever you say, Mommy.”

Madeline paused for a moment, watching him. He was always well-behaved, but today he seemed unusually sweet, even clingy, and now he was even volunteering to help out. She wondered about it, but decided he probably just missed her after a few days apart.

After dinner, she still felt uneasy, so she called Miles to check in. When she heard that the child had made it back safely to the Grayson house, she finally let out a breath of relief.

The next morning was Saturday, which meant no school. Oliver had the day to himself at the Grayson estate. He wandered around, exploring the grounds, making sure he learned every corner so he wouldn’t get caught off guard.

Julian, worried about another scare, had doubled up on bodyguards to keep an eye on him.

Oliver stopped in front of a strange-looking flowerbed. “Why are there so many roses here? They don’t match the rest of the garden at all.”
