Enoch sighed deeply and turned to Oberon. "Go fetch Verena."
Truth be told, Verena was their real mother!
With Drusilla gone, they had no choice but to call on Verena to manage things.
...
Verena was supposed to be working late today. Her boss approached her desk. "Verena."
She looked up. "Yes?"
"Pack your things. Someone's here for you."
"Who?"
"You'll find out when you see them!"
"No more overtime? I haven't finished my work yet."
As a diligent employee, she was used to her late-night routine. Being suddenly excused from it felt odd.
Still, her boss insisted, and Verena found herself ushered out of the office.
Waiting at the entrance, she was surprised to see members of the Taylor family.
"Hello, Ms. Garner," they greeted her.
"What brings you here?"
"Mr. Taylor sent us to pick you up."
"..." Enoch wanted to see her?
Ever since the kids had returned to the Taylor household, with Drusilla taking care of them, Enoch had been adamant about keeping her away.
But here they were, asking for her?
Uncertain of what had transpired, Verena followed them and got into the Taylor family’s car.
While in the car, she texted Drusilla, "What happened with you and Enoch?"
Drusilla had just returned home when she received Verena's message. "Off work already?"
"I was supposed to work late, but Enoch sent someone for me. Why does he want to see me?"
It felt as if something had happened between Drusilla and Enoch, and that's why he was reaching out to her.
