"Got it, Mr. Melendez."
Ricardo was about to take off, but Emmett stopped him in his tracks.
"Don't let Clara in on this, not a single peep."
"Why not? Shouldn't she be on her guard too?"
"Clara's an innocent soul. I don't want her to get all bummed out about the ways of the world. If we don't find anything wrong, then it's all water under the bridge."
Ricardo finally got the gist and nodded, "Ah, I see! Mr. Melendez, you really think it through! I didn't even consider that! Ms. Calloway is lucky to have you always watching her back."
"She's naive, so I have to look out for her."
He was utterly smitten with this innocent woman.
At lunchtime, Clara wanted to grab a bite with Emmett and ask about Leah.
But after much thought, she decided to ditch the idea.
People would think something is going on if they saw them together!
She didn't want to cause any trouble for Emmett.
Just as she was about to grab lunch alone, her phone rang. It was Leah.
"Clara, do you have a moment?"
"Sure, what's up? You sound like something's up!"
"Alright!"
Clara hung up as the cab was pulling up to the hospital.
She quickly followed the address Leah sent and rushed in.
Out of breath, Clara arrived at Leah's room, where she was bent over the table, her shoulders shaking slightly. It was heartbreaking to see.
"Are you alright?" Clara hurried over and patted her shoulder lightly, "How could this happen, did they find the driver?"
As soon as Leah heard Clara's voice, she started sobbing even harder.
"You finally came here! I thought, I thought I was gonna die..."
