Two Times the Charm (Clara and Emmett) novel Chapter 434

If she refused, Alex would throw a fit and call Sophia. Things would get too messy.

With a clenched jaw, she had no choice but to acquiesce. So, she slowly lowered herself onto her hands and knees.

Alex didn't give a hoot. He just climbed right onto her back, bouncing up and down while yelling, "Giddy up! Giddy up! Pony, run fast; I need to get to the study to find my brother!"

Once again, Leah could not believe this was happening to her.

Leah had never played such a game with children before. Wasn't this Alex's veiled way of calling her an animal?

She furrowed her brows as she did her best to suppress her anger. She kept repeating to herself that she was doing this for Emmett. She just had to endure this for a while and temporarily set aside her dignity. This was the only way she could stomach crawling around like a dog.

The door to the study opened.

Aiden was taken aback when he saw them playing like this.

He was secretly impressed by Alex's skills at tormenting people. He was truly top-notch.

"I still have to study. Can you take Alex outside to play?" Aiden pretended not to understand Alex's intention to tease Leah and laughingly gave Leah a thumbs up. "You're a saint! Since you can play along with Alex, I can study in peace. Later, I'll be sure to tell Grandma how wonderful you are."

His remarks served as a much-needed shot of adrenaline for the near-collapsing Leah.

Yes, she needed to endure. For Emmett and for the position of Mrs. Melendez.

If the kids could praise her in front of Sophia, becoming Mrs. Melendez wouldn't be far away.

"Move it!" Alex said, giving Leah's stomach a light kick. "Don't disturb my brother's study time."
