"Tied it up."
Finnian stepped in front of her, making sure the apron was secure, and murmured softly.
Amara twisted her hands together, staring at her toes, too shy to meet his gaze. "Thanks," she mumbled.
It was just an apron, but the air between them felt charged, like someone had turned up the heat. Was it just her imagination?
Outside the kitchen's glass door, two heads peeked in, eyes glued to the pair inside. Once they saw something they liked, they quickly ducked back out of sight.
"Finn's really got his heart set on Ama, doesn't he?" Mr. Kevin Everly chuckled as he stepped away from the kitchen, leaning on Lisa for support.
"He did ask me to call Ama over to see you today, without mentioning his name," Lisa said, smiling brightly. "And didn't he ask you to pretend to be asleep? You weren't actually napping this afternoon! Finn is something else..."
Mr. Kevin Everly's biggest wish was for Finnian and Amara to get back together and live happily ever after. Seeing Finnian's obvious affection for Amara was a step in the right direction—it was just a matter of time before Amara came around.
Feeling optimistic, Mr. Kevin Everly and Lisa continued their chat about the budding romance, laughing as they headed back to their room.
In the kitchen, Finnian glanced at the door, noticing when the two heads disappeared. Turning back to Amara, he asked, "Your soups are always amazing. Did you make them like this for me before?"
Finnian gently turned her around, lifting her chin to meet his gaze. "Are you telling the truth, or are you trying to fool me?"
His insistence on eye contact was maddening, and Amara's eyes darted away, irritation bubbling up inside her. She felt a strong urge to snap at him.
Just then, the kitchen door burst open, and Emma stormed in, pointing a finger at Amara. "You little tramp, what are you doing back here? Clinging to Finn even after the divorce? You have no shame!"
Her words were sharp and filled with anger, drawing the attention of the household staff who gathered at the kitchen door, peeking in curiously.
Amara's face turned pale, her fists clenched tightly, her whole body trembling with emotion.
