Under the Veil I Rule (Amara) novel Chapter 367

Whether Liliana was feeling awkward or not, no one could tell—she was a master at hiding her emotions. Even if she was uncomfortable, she’d never let it show. She chatted with Hogan as casually as if nothing was amiss.

Hogan, on the other hand, couldn’t pull off Liliana’s easy grace. After a few meaningless exchanges, he cut the conversation short. “I’m heading out. Let’s catch up another time,” he said, already halfway to the door.

Liliana paused for a moment. This was the first time Hogan hadn’t called her “sis-in-law.” She couldn’t tell if he’d done it on purpose or just out of habit.

But her smile didn’t falter. “Alright, go home and get some rest. If you’re not feeling well, call me.”

Hogan nodded, then left her dressing room, his brow furrowed, thoughts tangled up like a knot he couldn’t undo.

Suddenly, he spotted Amara coming down the corridor.

It had been days since he’d seen Amara’s real face, but every time he ran into her unexpectedly, her beauty still took him by surprise.

He collected himself and strode over to her, blurting out, “You know Finnian and Liliana are officially together now, right?”

“…”

Amara eyed him warily, not sure why he’d suddenly brought this up. “Weren’t they already together for ages?” she replied, her tone guarded.

Hogan hesitated, about to correct her, but Amara cut him off. “Does it even matter? Did you need something?”

He frowned, frustrated.

Technically, even though Liliana had once “been pregnant” with Finnian’s child, they’d never actually been a couple. All that intimacy had been just an act Liliana put on for everyone else.

Was Hogan losing his mind, running over here to ask her about this?

She had no intention of continuing the conversation and walked right past him. Hogan stared after her, lost in thought.

Nearby, Liliana quietly closed the door to her dressing room, her mind replaying the scene she’d just witnessed between Hogan and Amara. The frown on her face refused to go away.

It was bizarre—Hogan seeking out Amara for a chat, and the way he looked at her had definitely changed.

It wasn’t that Hogan had feelings for Amara, but the usual disdain in his gaze was gone. Was it possible her looks had finally gotten to him?

Liliana was already on board with Emma now, and compared to that, Hogan’s support wasn’t as crucial. Still, she didn’t want Hogan siding with Amara—especially since he knew the truth about her fake pregnancy.
