On the way, she calmed down and replayed the events in the elevator, puzzled by Finnian's behavior.
When they were trapped, the elevator must have been stuck somewhere between the sixth and seventh floors. If it had plummeted from that height, they would have undoubtedly been killed on impact.
Yet in that critical moment, Finnian’s first instinct was to rush over and hold her tight, pressing her firmly against the elevator wall.
By doing that, Finnian had minimized her chances of getting hurt, but he’d put himself in incredible danger. Why would he do that?
This wasn't the first time he had saved her at his own expense. It was precisely because of these repeated, selfless acts that she couldn't bring herself to truly hate the man, even after what he’d done to her yesterday.
And now it had happened again. Why?
He was in love with Liliana, so why did he keep saving her, time and time again? Amara’s mind was a chaotic mess.
She was disappointed about missing the press conference for *Whispers of Winter* and had been waiting eagerly for the media reports to come out.
The next day, when she finally saw the coverage, she was furious.
