Under the Veil I Rule (Amara) novel Chapter 564

Although Amara hadn't looked directly at Finnian since he and Dorian walked in, she could feel an intense gaze on her and knew exactly who it was from.

Now that he was sitting opposite her, she could see his tense expression out of the corner of her eye. He was staring right at her, and it made her uncomfortable.

Finnian was already looking so grim, and Elysia was deliberately bringing this up just to stir the pot.

Sure enough, when he heard Elysia mention the marriage license, Finnian's eyes shot up, and the fist resting on his knee trembled slightly. Was he angry?

Amara felt utterly helpless, but since Elysia had asked, she had to answer. "This Sunday."

"Ooh, Sunday," Elysia repeated, clearly enjoying the drama.

She glanced over at Finnian again.

Finnian's face was dark, his aura oppressive. Seeing him like this, Elysia felt a flicker of satisfaction, a small smile playing on her lips before she quickly suppressed it.

Dorian felt helpless. He really wished Finnian could just forget Amara.

His friend wouldn't be in so much pain then. But looking at him now, that seemed impossible, and Dorian didn't know what to say.

The atmosphere had grown tense. Dorian tried to lighten the mood and cheer his friend up. "It's already past four, almost dinnertime. I'll order some takeout. What's everyone in the mood for?"

"No need. I can cook."

Finnian stood up and said the words simply, but they startled the others—or more accurately, they startled Dorian and Elysia.

They both remembered the last time they'd seen Finnian cook. It was shocking that a powerful CEO could make such delicious food.
