But the way Jeremy said it was vague, and Amelia didn’t quite catch what he meant.

After that, neither of them spoke again, but the silence wasn’t awkward at all.

After a while, Jeremy finally broke it. “These past few days … no one’s tried to jump you or anything, right?”

“No. Why?” Amelia frowned.

She could tell Jeremy wouldn’t ask without a reason.

“Nothing, just worried someone might come after you. Be careful for the next little while.”

He didn’t go into detail, but the warning was obvious. In the background, he was already setting up protection for her.

Meanwhile, his uncle, Wade, was running out of patience.

Not only was the guy restless, but he was bold enough to start making moves toward Amelia.

He must’ve noticed how often she and Jeremy had been in contact lately, since Jeremy had never been close to any woman before.

Now that Amelia was around him so much, Wade was bound to suspect she was the one Jeremy actually cared about.

And he’d be right.

But there was no way Jeremy was letting anyone hurt Amelia.

So, besides warning her and arranging protection, he figured it was also time to teach Wade a lesson.

“Okay,” Amelia said with a small nod, not asking more.

Since he didn’t want to explain further, she didn’t push.

Still, she would never ignore a warning if it called for caution.

Meanwhile, Maxwell had just finished sorting out Amelia’s contract termination and now had to deal with Gianna’s mess.

He couldn’t even yell at her–he had to comfort her, cover for her with Marcelo and Miguel, and spin her actions in a good light.

On top of that, he had to coordinate with the Popular Model Contest organizers and carefully plan her looks.

Maxwell felt like he was going to collapse from exhaustion, and found himself missing his ex, Patience, more than ever.

She used to handle everything. All he had to do was focus on styling and design.

Now he was drowning in endless little chores.

Gianna’s manager had switched from Melissa to the top agent, Lina Blake, but in Maxwell’s eyes, Patience had been way more attentive.

There was no comparison. You don’t realize what you had until it’s gone.

And right now, he really missed that woman.

Just then, Maxwell stepped out of the company and spotted Patience across the street at the

corner!

“Patience? You’re back in the country?” he blurted, stunned.

Am I imagining her because I miss her too much?

Talk about a small worldrunning straight into your ex.
