When the Dead Still Call novel Chapter 11

Chapter 11: Joining a Reality Show

Gianna was well aware of Amelia’s stubborn streak—she knew that Amelia wouldn’t surrender her shares without a fight. Determined to find a way around her obstinance, Gianna proposed a plan to Marcelo.

“If Amelia refuses to give up her shares, we should push her into a reality show,” Gianna suggested with a calculating gleam in her eyes.

At first, Marcelo was hesitant about the idea. Reality shows weren’t exactly his preferred tactic, but Gianna’s persuasive words quickly swayed him.

“Marcelo,” she said softly but firmly, “once she’s in front of the cameras, we’ll have countless opportunities to tarnish her reputation. The pressure of public opinion will wear her down. Eventually, she won’t be able to hold her ground. She’ll have no choice but to give in.”

Gianna’s voice was steady, but inside, she relished the thought of Amelia’s pride being shattered. Once the audience witnessed Amelia’s arrogance and foolishness, the netizens would mercilessly tear her apart. It would be the perfect revenge.

Only then did Marcelo nod in agreement. Using his connections, he arranged for Amelia to be cast in a reality show titled “Heiress Bootcamp.” Naturally, the Nygards’ entertainment company also invested in the production, ensuring their influence.

When Amelia first heard about the show, she raised an eyebrow in mild amusement. “Oh? What kind of reality show is this?” she asked, curiosity flickering in her eyes.

Marcelo was prepared for her question. He pulled a neatly organized folder from his briefcase and slid it across the table toward her. “It’s called ‘Heiress Bootcamp.’ It fits your current image perfectly,” he said, emphasizing the word “image” with a slight smirk.

Amelia opened the folder and scanned the show’s description. A soft laugh escaped her lips as she absorbed the concept.

The show was designed to take wealthy young women and force them to live like ordinary working-class people. The producers would throw all sorts of grueling and humiliating challenges at them, just to watch these pampered heiresses stumble and embarrass themselves.

It wasn’t a bad idea, actually—it sounded almost entertaining.

She could see through their real intention: to humiliate her.

Amelia’s laugh turned cold as her eyes darted between Gianna and Marcelo. “Wow. I never imagined something this perfect would come my way,” she said with a mocking tone.

Marcelo adjusted his glasses, trying to maintain his composure. “‘Heiress Bootcamp’ is currently the most popular reality show in the country. You and Gianna can participate as sisters. It’s the perfect opportunity to improve your public image.”

Gianna jumped in eagerly, a smug glint in her eyes. “Exactly, Amelia. People love watching sisters bond. We can tackle the challenges together and support each other.”

“Support each other?” Amelia snorted derisively. “You mean, give you the chance to stab me in the back?”

Gianna’s smile faltered, her eyes flashing with hurt as if Amelia’s words had wounded her deeply. “Amelia, how could you say that?”

Raymond, who had been quietly observing, frowned and spoke sternly, “Amelia, this is a company assignment. You have to do it. Don’t forget clause 17 in your contract—artists must comply with all company tasks, no exceptions!”

Amelia took a deep breath, her expression calm and unbothered. “Fine. I’ll join the show,” she replied evenly.

They wanted her on the show? Very well. But she vowed silently that they wouldn’t enjoy the outcome.

“Good. Filming starts in three days. I’ll send you the address,” Marcelo said, satisfied.

Amelia acknowledged him with a casual “OK” hand sign before turning and walking out.
