What hurt most was that none of her brothers came over to comfort her. Not one.
She was crying and heartbroken; they still walked away.

Why weren’t they comforting her anymore?
Gianna’s anger flared. She clenched her fists so tightly that her nails dug into her palms, but she didn’t even feel the pain.
Her body trembled, rage and humiliation crashing over her like a storm.
“There must be a mistake,” she muttered to herself.
She refused to believe that the brothers she’d always controlled suddenly turned cold. And her parents–how could they ignore her like this?
She stormed into the living room and dropped onto the couch, her mind already spinning with a new scheme.
Wiping away the fake tears she had forced out earlier, she tried to calm down.
But every time she pictured her brothers‘ indifferent faces, her fury reignited. This had to be Amelia’s fault. That woman must’ve done something behind her back.
Gianna remembered all those times Amelia had whispered things into Marcelo’s ear.
