Chapter 19: Backfired
What terrible fortune it was to be assigned to the same team as Gianna. Patricia had deliberately called her out by name, ensuring there was no way for Gianna to avoid the spotlight.
With a look of clear revulsion, Gianna pinched a tiny fish between her fingers. Then, with a sharp flick, the fish’s tail smacked across her own face. “Ahhh!” she cried out, flinging the slippery creature away in frustration. It landed right on a little girl who happened to be passing by, causing the child to burst into tears.
Every moment was captured by the cameras. The livestream chat erupted instantly.
[Unbelievable. That’s just cruel.]
[If she treats a child like that, what does it say about her personality?]
[The difference between the two girls is like night and day.]
[She fooled us all before. Guess you never really know someone.]
[Kick Gianna off the show already!]
Gianna’s heart pounded with humiliation. She wanted to scream, to disappear. Was this place cursed against her? Nothing seemed to go her way. Desperately, she prayed, “God, please let the viewers have missed that.”
After the incident, no one wanted to buy fish from her stall anymore. The damage was done.
Meanwhile, Amelia’s side had completely sold out. A long line of customers waited eagerly for her to gut and fillet fish right on the spot.
Her hands moved with practiced ease, the knife glinting as she worked steadily. Even the stall owner gave her an approving thumbs-up. “Girl, you’re better at this than I am.”
Amelia smiled modestly and wiped the sweat from her brow. “You’re flattering me. How could I compare to you?” she said, her voice warm.
The chat exploded with admiration.
[Help! How is wiping sweat this hot?!]
[She’s killing me—cool, tough, and gorgeous.]
[Why didn’t we notice Amelia’s charm before?]
On the other side, Gianna’s agent was close to losing control. Watching her client’s disastrous performance on the screen, her hands trembled with anger. “That idiot! Do you know how much the company invested in building her up?”
Even though it was her own company, pouring so much money into what seemed like a lost cause was painful to witness.
By the end of the day, Amelia’s stall had the highest sales, earning her team the first pick of dinner ingredients. That night’s catch was the best they’d seen in days: grouper, crab, giant shrimp.
Prepared by Amelia’s skilled hands, it transformed into a sumptuous seafood feast. She shared it generously with everyone.
For once, Gianna stayed silent.
Now, only one final challenge remained before the reality show concluded.

Word spread that this last mission would be the toughest yet. No one was sure if they would make it through.
