“Why are you being so nosy? What I do and who I hang out with has nothing to do with right?
you,
“If you’ve got nothing better to do, can you just go back to your seat? You’re seriously killing the mood.”
Given Isabel’s good manners and upbringing, even though she was furious, she was barely saying anything nasty.
Amelia was her best friend–the first person who’d taught her that being herself was the key to being happy.
So when someone talked to Amelia like that—and it was her own brother, no less–Isabel was
furious.
“Isabel, don’t let him get to you. Guys like him? Just tell him to f*ck off. If he keeps bothering you, call the cops for harassment.”
Amelia didn’t have Isabel’s patience or upbringing. She fought fire with fire.
“You!” Marcelo was instantly ticked off and stopped himself right before he swore. “I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with you, and I’m not saying she can’t hang out with you.”
He honestly wanted to talk to his sister properly, to fix things between them.
So he tried to explain, his tone much softer now.
Too bad she acted like she didn’t even hear him and just stayed silent.
Behind him, Vincent gave Marcelo a pitying look and patted his shoulder.
“Step aside, man. I’ve got this.”
Marcelo saw him looking all fired up and confident and quickly stepped aside. “Yeah, okay.”
Good friends should stick together through thick and thin–suffer together, and endure together.
Nice.
Vincent walked right up to Amelia, sat down next to her, and put on his “devoted lover” act.

“Amelia, I know you’re still mad at me and don’t want to talk, but I really get it now. I messed up before.
“Tell me what I can do so you’ll forgive me and give us another shot.”
Vincent was finally using his head. He’d seen Marcelo’s overly macho attitude, lecturing and bossing around.
Yeah, great move. She hated him even more.
So Vincent reflected on his past failures and decided to learn from them.
Jeez, this simpleton is stupid to keep looking for trouble with Amelia, who’s such a pain in the butt.
