“First official day at work, huh? Do your best,” Elian said casually, placing a neatly wrapped gift box on her desk.
Amelia raised an eyebrow and looked at him.
“It’s just a little something, since it’s your first day,” Elian explained quickly, his ears turning a bit red under her gaze.
Amelia couldn’t help but laugh. “We’ve known each other for years. Do we really need all this formality?” Still, she accepted the gift politely.
She never remembered him being the type to care about small gestures like this.
Back in school, everyone used to say he was as dull as a rock when it came to romance.
He was always studying back then, and now, always working.
No wonder he was still single at 31.
“It’s good that you’re back. Giving a gift feels right,” Elian said calmly, his face showing no hint of emotion.
“I’ve worked at Nygard Group before. I know my way around, and I don’t plan to stay here long anyway.”
“I get it. We’ll solve the current issues first. Whatever happens next, that’s up to Nygard Group’s fate.”
Elian totally got that someone as free–spirited and independent as her wouldn’t be held back by anything.
She might leave again someday, but for now, at least, she was here.
He pushed his thoughts aside and changed the topic. “By the way, Mr. Nygard brought Gianna in, too. She started a few days ago.”
“Makes sense. She’s lost her place in the entertainment world. The only thing she can count on now is the Nygards‘ connections.”
Still, Amelia was curious. The board members had always been against Gianna joining the Nygard Group. How did they suddenly agree to it?

Elian, who knew her well, explained right away, “Most of the higher–ups disagree and still have complaints. But after Mr. Nygard promised that she might be able to fix the damaged medicinal plantation, they reluctantly said yes.
“Guess they’re desperate. They’ll try anything at this point.”
That made Amelia pause. “Gianna can fix the medicinal plantation?”
She’d heard about it too–the herbs grown at Nygard Group’s Base 01 were dying for some unknown reason before harvest.
This was a huge investment, and the higher–ups were watching closely.
