“But Gianna’s not feeling well, so she can’t keep explaining things to everyone. expect us to do if we don’t cancel?”

What do

you

Miguel was losing his patience as Amelia kept pushing the issue.

“What does her leaving have to do with our meeting? It’s not like no one else understands this stuff. You two really think you’re that important, huh?”

“You!” Miguel snapped. “If you don’t know what you’re talking about, stop yelling.”

“Who says I don’t know? I’ll say whatever I want. What can you do about it?”

Amelia shot back, refusing to give him even a shred of respect.

It was the first time Miguel had ever been called out by her in public. Usually, it was Maxwell or Marcelo who took the hit, but now it was his turn–and honestly, it felt awful.

He couldn’t even find the right words. It was like he’d just swallowed something foul.

“What do you want, exactly?” he gritted out.

“Nothing much. Just take your precious Gianna and get out. I’ll handle the rest of the meeting. If anyone has questions, I’ll explain it all,” Amelia said coolly.

“You?” Miguel looked at her like she’d gone mad. “You’re going to explain it to them?”

“Weren’t you just asking Gianna for help a few minutes ago? Now you think you can teach everyone yourself?”

How had he never realized Amelia was this arrogant and blindly confident?

Just to steal the spotlight, she was pretending to be an expert now? Was she out of her mind?

“Amelia, I get that you want to show off, but this isn’t showbiz. You can’t just sing a song or appear on TV and call yourself talented,” he said impatiently.

“This is serious research. If you don’t understand it, don’t mislead others.”

Gianna couldn’t believe this woman was actually showing off now.

Was she planning to repeat what Gianna had just said, pretending those ideas were her own?

Was she really that shameless, trying to steal all the credit?

“Weren’t you just saying your stomach hurt and you couldn’t breathe? You sure sound fine now,” Amelia said with a smirk.

“I” Gianna froze, feeling like she’d just been slapped.

“I already told Miguel to take you to the hospital. Maybe a psychiatrist can check your head- and while they’re at it, they can drain some of that nonsense out of his head too,” Amelia sneered.

She was getting sick of both of them.

“Amelia, you’re going too far!” Miguel barked, anger spilling over after being roasted again and again.
